Gray's Anatomy star admits he's gay: http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/TV/10/20/p...t.ap/index.html So what? Really? Has that day arrived? Does it really not matter that people are gay? How bout actors on TV that your children see? How bout politicians, priests, teachers? Is being gay a big deal, or not? Is everyone accepting of gays now? Where does this all stand in your mind? |

Not an issue, to me. I don't care. I don't care to constantly have it slammed in my face by the extremists, just as I don't care for rabidly angry feminists, but sexual preference/predilection.. *shrug* whatever... Who cares? |

An actor who's gay? Good night nurse. |

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D | |

I think it's sad that people are harrassed to the point where they have to announce their sexuality. And I believe this person was harrassed. He made his statement to "address rumors". Look at what's happening to Clay Aitkens (sp?). He's damned if he says he is, he's damned if he says he isn't, and he's damned for not saying anything at all. Who cares? |

The media companies that stand to lose millions, I guess. But maybe not. Sometimes it seems nobody cares any more. Sometimes it seems they do. It is weird right now. There are two realities. I think it is becoming like blacks. On the outside nobody admits discriminating, but they do in their minds and it plays out in their actions. |

I think you could be right. I don't know what the answer is. Clay Aitkens was on Larry King the other night and he said he's continually harrassed by reporters asking if he's gay and trying to catch him in a tryst with a man. What's up with that? Why would they do that? It's sick. I feel sorry for the guy. He says this has been going on ever since he left American Idol. The sad thing is if he is gay and does come out, people will look aghast and react the way they're reacting to this man. It's sad. added edit: and, yes, I agree that some people talk the talk but don't always walk the walk. The good news here is that at least they're talking the talk. And we can assume they know what the right thing to do is. |

Money. Careers of journalists and photographers. The public is interested. The first media outlet to get the picture or break the news gets bragging rights. When the public looses interest this will stop. Why is it interesting? Being gay really only matters to one person, the one you sleep with. |

I think as time goes on this kind of thing is getting less important. Remember Rock Hudson's pathetic (in a genuinely sad way) and ultimately futile attempts to keep hold of the fiction that he was heterosexual? That's a lot less common nowadays, but society moves slowly. |

Admittedly it's not quite as newsworthy as the recent shock outing of Warren Beatty, but it still interests some, apparently. |

Kenny, I think it is the last group it is acceptable to discriminate against. A lot of what is prejudice seems natural to many people instead of the twisted rationalization that all prejudice is. As far as this actor's sexual orientation being news- I have mixed feelings. It should not be news but at least it is better than the countless examples of fake marriages in the media etc. |

I've heard it claimed by some that heterosexual white males are discriminated against. Can't say I've ever noticed, to be honest. |
