What do you know about hooks? Solomon has "caught" him twice before and Reid isn't in any trouble. As Quirt has been saying, the Republicans are running things. Why haven't they nailed Reid to the wall if he's so bad? Answer: BECAUSE HE HASN'T DONE ANYTHING WRONG. |

As opposed to Larry's usual mantra, of how liberalism is a mental disorder, and how the Democrats should never be allowed back in power. When he's not off on a frolic and detour about what a hack Murtha is. |

Neither has Tom Delay, but that didn't stop anything, did it? I guess it was because the republicans are "running things" that got that whole thing going, huh? And Quirt, liberalism *is* a mental disorder. If any doubt existed, it has been removed during the last week or so... Democrats *shouldn't* ever be allowed back in power - look at what they've already told us they plan to do: In the first 100 hours, Pellosi plans to kill the economy, put tens of thousands of people out of work, pull out of Iraq and showing the world that the notion that America cannot be depended on to finish the job is true, and while the middle east falls into chaos, the democrats will be busy engaging in all sorts of revenge driven investigations of their political enemies. Yep - it'll be Jimmy Carter all over again, only this time we won't be watching the enemy on TV, we'll be watching them in our streets. Oh - and Murtha will be running around looking for someone to surrender to. |

As I've said before, Pelosi can't do anything, other than slow down the Bush train wreck. She can't pass legislation without a Republican Senate, and she can't override a Bush veto even if she can. All the Dems can do ... if, and it's a really unlikely if, the Dems were to get a majority in the Senate too ... is block ridiculous judges, refuse to go along with legislation Bush wants, and conduct lots of oversight hearings. You can keep trotting our your parade of fright over what Pelosi would do, but structurally it can't happen. So go ahead and fear-monger, but I'll be there every time to remind people that it's just fear-mongering, and can't really happen. By the way, do you have macros for "liberalism is a mental disorder" and "that's why the Democrats should never be allowed back in power"? Given how often you repeat them, it would save a lot of time. |

Just what judges are "ridiculous", Quirt? You can "remind everyone it's just fearmongering" all you want, but the fact is you have painted a rosy picture and fooled yourself. Pellosi is an idiot, and if you think the majority leader can't f*ck things up and bog things down to the point government can't function, you're in for a shock if she is allowed to hold that position. My only hope is that for the good of the country, this clown never gets the chance, and it stays a theoretical debate between us. If she becomes majority leader, I'll win the debate, but it will come at far too high a price. As for the Bush "train wreck", well that's your misguided view of things, a view totally screwed by the facts. Hard to argue with an economy that's setting records every direction you look. |

If Pelosi can do that, I'll votes for her many times. Damn, I've given away the liberal secret for success in elections. I'll be cast out from the temple. |

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. OK, so show me how Pelosi, from her position of majority leader, can do this:
Without a Presidential veto. You were fear-mongering. You were talking about someone planning to do things that simply cannot happen. You're either mired in a bad nightmare or living in some fantasyland. This stuff can't happen just because the Speaker wants it to happen ... not unless there are veto-proof majorities in both the House and the Senate. Now, as for whether she can bog things down ... sure. But that isn't what you said. What you said was:
So, rather than changing the subject, tell me how those things can happen, over the objections of the President. |

Hmm, sounds like your own preconceptions coming to bear. Isn't it possible that he truly believes he's complied with the rules, and has nothing to fear? Nah, of course not. He's guilty because Larry says so. |

After that debacle with Mik in the other thread, perhaps you should be a little more circumspect about deciding what other folk's preconceptions are and worry about your own. |

I don't worry about that with you, IT. Mik is a gentleman. You are ... not. Besides, I didn't worry about what Mik's preconceptions were. Yet more IT slanting to stretch to make an invalid point. Sorry, but I don't accept your bundling that this has anything to do with the Mik thing. And finally, I apologized to Mik. I don't remember you or any of the more vitriolic members of the Conservative Cabal ever doing so. |

How about playing with the districts in Texas with the sole purpose of making the Dems lose seats in the House? Then there's the five occasions on which he has gotten into trouble with campaign contributions, counting this most recent one. Plus the times he hasn't been caught - which I can guarantee you are more than five. Then there's Mr. Abramoff. If you would like more information please go to TRMPAC.org. There you will find indictment after indictment, video evidence, and much more. He is the definition of sleazy. Gah, just thinking about him makes me want to go wash my hands. |

On this issue he's got competition. Our lovely Democrat Secretary of State has done the same thing to the Republican districts in Oregon. Unfortunately in both instances, everyone was complying w/the law. |
