ABC is correct. 9/11 is Clinton's fault. Clinton could have gotten Bin Laden He just didn't. He was more interested in getting ****. |

HOLY CARP!!!

It is silly, IMO, to say that 9/11 is Clinton's fault. Clinton did not arrange for the attack. Clinton did not hijack those planes. Similar (false) logic might tell us that Bin Laden's mother is to blame for 9/11 because she didn't take a birth control pill; Bin Laden's childhood friends are all to blame for 9/11 because they didn't murder him in his youth. That's all silly. Bin Laden is to blame for 9/11. The hijackers are to blame for 9/11. Those who helped plan the attacks are to blame for 9/11. Not Clinton, not Bush, not anyone else but those who planned/executed the attack. |

Not assigning blame to anyone here, Sam. There was a thread elsewhere that the ABC series misreprents Clinton's dealing with bin Laden. Having not seen the series, I can't comment. However, these two clips do show us what we do know about those times. There are other, more interesting, details, but they're not relevant at the moment. |

George, I couldn't get the audio to work. Is this an audio tape of Clinton saying the words on the screen? I am not aware that the US had Bin Laden in custody at any time. You have suggested we wait and see this- then you ask if ABC is correct. I don't think that ABC is correct if can't make it's point in five hours without misrepresenting the Secretary of State and National Security Advisor. |

Daniel, there's some stuff before the text that I couldn't make out - the audio is garbled. However, the scrolling text that you see is an exact transcript of the audio. |

No offense, but if you can't hear the audio then why would you believe so? It doesn't make sense to me. Again, I am not aware that the US has had Bin Laden in custody at any time. |

No offense taken. The part that is transcribed is clear as can be. I just didn't listen to the first part carefully. As to having him in custody, neither clip suggests that, I don't believe. |

'I didn't bring him here because I had no basis upon which to hold him.' Paraphrase- I can't cut and paste from the screen on this. We're going to disagree- if there isn't a source the quote is being taken from other than a webblog it's meaningless to me. If you can find an actual transcript, I guess I'd be interested to read it. But you're the one that wants to wait- I don't know why you keep not taking your own advice. |
