Middle Aged Carp
|
When I was a kid my grandfather was a Master Sergeant who worked in an armory (peacetime). He got me an army pup tent which I used regularly in summer for camping (in the Midwest), and every so often he would bring a case of C Rations which I thought were the coolest thing ever and I loved to eat them during my "bivouacking". I thought they tasted great. I loved all the packaging. I enjoyed this stuff summer after summer. Of course later in life I realized my grandfather probably had no right to bring any of that stuff home, but it never occurred to me at the time. I did not spend a lot of time with this grandfather. He was actually not even a blood relative. But he with those tents and C Rations were responsible for a lot of kid happiness. |

Your grandfather sounds like a great guy. I don't begrudge him the cost of the C Rats. |
