Hobie made a comment (and I don't remember in which (of many similar threads) thread) that this forum is controlled by a bunch of right wingers, and he's here to provide some balance. So, just out of curiosity, I looked at the last 4 pages of threads and titles, and who started the thread. I tried to eliminate the silly, and hopefully got the political/religious stuff included. I specifically excluded Hobie's threads, because he's here to "provide balance." Here's the list - title and author of thread. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Saddam and al-Qaeda, Pre-War A New Report Says .... I'd say it's a pretty equal place. Right-wingers don't control it, just as left-wingers don't. |
| And how are you today? | |

My gut was telling me the same thing, but I didn't look into it. There is relatively good balance here...but by Hobie's own admission, he was expecting a very liberal crowd. If he can tolerate us, the more the merrier. |

I don't have the time tonight but I'd be curious about the # of posts by our more conservative members vs that of liberal. this would probably lead to mass chaos and flames because people would be upset about being lumped in a group they don't really identify with and then in the end the numbers are sort of useless becuase of all the posts that aren't politics-related, like the word association thread... but if someone gets bored that would be nice. I'm betting it's tilted toward the right becuase of 89th but I'm not really sure if that means anything or not.

No it's not "controlled" by the Right. But there's an awful lot of controlling, aggressive, dominating attitudes coming from some of them. |

Hobie is a new guy here, and is just getting his feet wet. Why don't you give the guy a break, and let him settle in. A couple people were unecessarily nasty to him when he first started posting. |

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
|
Assuming one COULD control an online forum in any way other than moderation and changing posts, exactly what is it you would control? I don't think there's a serious question to explore there. I have not been overly nice to Hobie, but that is because I found his posts offensive. I think we have worked that out. If one does not wish to fight with Larry, the answer is quite simple.. don't. |

I got the feeling that Hobie's comment was based on the fact that he felt that he was 'standing alone' during his political arguments. But in my (admittedly limited) experience here; it's not that the balance is not present, more that the people who would normally have provided it had chosen not to participate in that particular battle. |

I think there would be more posts by conservative members. Just look at who the top 4 posters are. ![]() However, I don't think they would have an overwhelmingly higher number, because when you look at the entire top 10 list, it is much more balanced.
