I'm past that now. I'm not going to do that anymore. Two years ago, yes I did. It was stupid. I'm two years older and old enough to realize that. Everybody has things they regret from when they were younger. No selective memory here.

I think it's just a case of megalomania on Ben's part.

He wants................TO CONTROL THE BOARD!

:hair:

FWIW, I find non-profane nastiness far more alarming than profanity.

My personal opinion? I wouldn't moderate words but I would moderate threats- deleted, warned, banned.

I also believe in self-moderation and I try to stay out of conflicts like this- mutual respect is a good policy.

Most of the people here can take it and dish it out. It doesn't bother me in the least. I kind of agree with OperaTenor, w/o the over-the-top insults things seem more serious and threatening.

Also, while I agree that clever, well-spoken people don't need to use profanity to get their point across, and often the less-educated use certain profanity as a form of laziness, I find that the choice cuss word, used in the right context and with the right timing, in the right place, is f**king perfect.

Besides, spelling "sh!t" that way just looks funny.

I don't mind the words at all. But I don't like the hatred and anger behind the words, especially when it comes from people I am quite fond of.

Sometimes, clever and well spoken people just don't feel like typing all the text it would take to get their point across. Sometimes, it's just easier to call a f*ckwad a f*ckwad and be done with it.....

I know I'm not the only one who is bothered by profanity here.

Perhaps not, but in any case I suggest you forgo any opportunity that may present itself in the construction industry.

I work with a girl who flinches like she was punched in the gut whenever she hears a swear word. Nobody notices but me though so everybody other than me keeps using them around her.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?
