I won't play by Marquis of Queensbury rules when the other guy gets nasty. AC got nasty first. I responded in kind.

Go look at the thread, Kenny, and PM me if you think I was the one who got nasty first.

At least I've been giving it a try lately.

It's nice, actually.

Doing so is a sign of maturity not weakness or femininity. I used to be like you Quirt, when I first came to PW. One of the many, many things I have learned here (and back at the CR)

I can't abide Quirt's holier than thou sarcasm. He knew I had used a colloquial expression that means the bus driver was in charge of the bus but chose instead to twist its meaning. He earned my bile.

And so much bile there is.

AC said something stupid. AC hates being called on it when he says something stupid. That's the genesis of this.

There seems to be a post by AC that is missing. Quirt normally raises hell at the slightest hint of censorship. Where did his post go?

I can understand AC's anger. Quirt's method of debating things can frustrate the hell out of anyone trying to debate with intellectual honesty. AC didn't say anything "stupid", Quirt.

Yes, he did.

He tried to equate a bus driver's authority with the authority of the captain on a ship. Idiocy.

You reflexively defend every single one of your friends, every time. Loyal, but not intellectually honest.

And, I do find it amusing that you can accuse other people of not debating with intellectual honesty. So be it.

I re-read the thread and I have to agree with AC, too. However, his explanation that he was using a colloquial expression may have colored my impression.

Now, AC can go from zero to sixty pretty quick, but that is part of his charm.

I am so adjective that I verb nouns!
I read it as an analogy, Quirt. I doubt AC would hold that a bus driver has the right to perform marriages while in command of the vehicle.
The dogma lives loudly within me.

It was a poor analogy.

Now that you understand it was an analogy, perhaps you can appreciate why AC was so volatile when you took it as more than that.

HOLY CARP!!!
We all have buttons that get pushed.
Button construction goes unnoticed and takes a lifetime.
Pushing them takes just a second.

They are OUR buttons. (This is Key!)
We own them.
We created them.

It is of interest to observe the *automaticness* and involuntary nature of our response when our buttons are pushed.
It is like a knee reacting to the doctor's hammer.
Watch yourself.
It is amusing, if you can detach and pull it off.

Lately, I've been fiddling with disconnecting some the wires that go to my buttons.
It's nice.

Maybe when I'm done I’ll reconnect the wires and get all upset and yell at you guys some more.

We’ll see.

I'll say it again- the driver is Captain of his or her ship. Period. The driver is responsible not only for the vehicle but also the security of its cargo be it human or material. It is not idiocy. It is accepted practice.

Although I do not think you to be an idiot, only a moron would dispute the colloquial meaning of the term.

Either accept it as I intended it or shut your festering gob.
