Harken all ye of my age... the retro car thing is taking off!!! It worked for the Mustang, so why not recycle one of the best looking cars of the 70's?

It certainly looks nice. But it leaves me wondering if Dr.Z. and his team have given up trying to compete in the market. None of the big three have made real strides to extend their product line to high quality 30+ mpg vehicles. These retro cars (with the exception of the mini) seem to fade fast and have a niche market.

Yeah, it's a Hemi. :thumb:

I loved those Hemi powered Plymouths and Dodges back in the day. I think I'll smile seeing one again in street-legal form that is compatible with other than historical or classic status. Wonder what sort of ET's it will turn in best form?

There is NOTHING like the classic American muscle car.

One viewing of "Bullitt" will let you know that.

That man could drive. The image of that mustang appearing in the (charger's?) rearview mirror is like seeing the shark fo the first time in Jaws..."You're gonna need a bigger boat" :thumb:

Also recommend Ronin and The Bourne Identity for some great chase scenes.

Ronin, definitely...Bourne did a pretty nice job.

Although I'm not sure if you can beat Blue Brothers...

Forgot about that one. There are scenes where Akroyd is definitely driving very fast, as indicted by the pack of cigarettes sliding back and forth on the dashboard.

Over the years the Camero went from being a really cool machine to being a totally "vagina" car.

Yes, it will be a cross between a car and a rocket ship which makes it a hybrid of sorts.

I doubt whether they can reintroduce the Mopar automatic transmission that was standard in the original Challengers and Chargers. Best autotranny ever made.

I’ll say that the new Dodge Challenger is one beautiful car. The car was a star in the film “The Vanishing Point” and the new Challenger looks just like the old Challenger. I saw the new Challenger concept car at the Chicago Auto Show last winter. Large crowds had gathered around to see the bright orange Challenger rotate on a turntable. The looks of envy that I saw on people’s faces while watching that Challenger spin... I question Chrysler’s timing for the debut of the car. They should have revived it 10 or 15 years ago. At 4,000 pounds and powered by a V-8 engine, it’ll be heavy and thirsty. With $5 a gallon gas as a possible reality in the not too distant future, I can’t imagine too many Challengers being sold. Wealthier baby boomers who want a muscle car that harks back to their youth years, that’s undoubtedly who the demographic target buyer will be.

I think it was the A-727 TorqueFlite. The earlier A-488 cast iron case model has also been touted by some as the best automatic transmission ever built.

I also remember the 4-speed Hydramatics that were converted to all manual shifting being popular in some of the earlier Fuel Coupe dragsters, that also had a reputation for stout.

I had a 1967 Dodge Coronet 500 2-door hardtop with the A-727 and it ran pretty well with the stock 318.

As a young married man in that era, a Hemi muscle car was way beyond anything my budget could accommodate.

OK, so this is the way this thread is going so why don't we just post a few pictures of "vagina cars," "penis cars," (purely anatomical terms, you understand); manly man cars, ore trucks, and girly or super-fem vehicles.
Post your pictures, please.

I'll start.
