So I'm gonna go buy a cheap-o acoustic guitar. I'm interested in learning some of the basics...and it's far more mobile than pianos when it comes to road trips.

My daughter just bought a $300 Taylor from Guitar Center. I doubt Taylor actually makes it; I suspect it's Chinese and made for the chain. No matter, it sounds spectacular for what it cost and there is something about the way it's made that makes it very easy to play. Perhaps you can find one like it. Does the Guitar Center have stores in your neighborhood? |

I am so adjective that I verb nouns!

I got a Taylor Big Baby, and it has surprisingly good sound for a beginner guitar (about $220 3 years ago). Steve -- is that the one you suspect is made in China? |

Yes, I believe that's whet they called it. A very crisp sound for a small, inexpensive guitar. |

Ok, this is what I just bought: http://www.guitarcenter.com/shop/product/b...l_sku=102464096 Fender, solid-spruce-top, acoustic, with accessories....199 bucks. I figured it's a pretty good value for what I'm looking for right now. |

I played that Fender while we were at the store looking at the Taylor. I liked it too, and you should get years of enjoyment from it. Congrats! |
