HOLY CARP!!!

I'm always noticing casual comments around here, like "Oh yeah, back when I lived in Greenland. . . " I love reading about where people have lived, or spent extensive periods of time, or make frequent travels to (for business, to visit family, whatever). I guess it inspires me to look more seriously into exploring other ways of life once I'm done with my schooling here. I understand some people here can't give away details for security reasons, but. . . Where have you lived? What countries are you really familiar with, either because of frequent business trips, visiting family, etc.? I'll start. I lived in Spain for 8 months during my undergrad. years. It seemed like a long period at the time, but now I feel like it was just a drop in the bucket. |

I have always lived within a few miles of the DC beltway, except for when I went to college. I wouldn't mind living in New Hampshire, upstate NY, Chicago, or Fort Collins, CO, though. Sorry to tangent.

Other than Edmonton which I consider home, I have resided in Ottawa, Tyumen and Moscow. I should also include Heathrow, Frankfurt and numerous other airports throughout Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union. |

Started out in Connecticut and lived there for 20 or so years then off to Washington DC for college, then to Greenwich Village for three years. I moved to New Jersey for two years and then off to NYC again. Now, I live in Central Florida. We've also owned second homes in Maine (on Mousam Lake), Ft. Lauderdale on the Intercoastal and Cudjoe Key near Key West. |

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D | |
