Cornell, and 99 other campuses, has something new to brag about. http://www.news.cornell.edu/stories/July06...campus.ssl.html ![]() http://alysonbooks.stores.yahoo.net/adlgcogu.html Again, I think a book of the best 100 campuses for brown haired people would be dumb. But if brown haired people were hated and were getting beat up, I guess it would be understandable to see a book about campuses what finally support equality for brown haired people. Still I think it's pathetic that such a book is needed. |

I wonder which of those universities provides seperate dorms for each type of sexual orientation? ![]() I mean...why are there seperate men-only and women-only dorms in the first place?

That's a good question 89th. When I went to NYU they were in the process of converting most of the dorms to co-ed. They figured unless they started separating by sexual orientation there was no point in being divided. |

Perhaps the increasing number of openly-gay people is the best thing that's ever happened to straight men! |

89th - I'm happy you finally see the light. On the other hand, metro-sexual str8 men are the WORST thing that's ever happened to gay men! |

Yeah, exactly Kenny. In my opinion there are still seperated dorms for a reason - to minimize sexual distractions and even sexual threats. If there's going to be a major gay awareness on campus with policy changes and what not (although I'm not really sure what changes), then they should change the dorms accordingly. I guess we would need a straight-female, straigh-male, gay-female, gay-male, and curious dorms. |

Anyone see a list posted anywhere? I'd be interested to see what schools are listed. |

Because it makes it harder to tell the gay ones from the str8 ones! This is more apparent in New York City where the lines (of sexuality) are blurred to begin with. |

I'm sure there are some that would. But really, I don't know of many people whose *parents* choose their college for them. But I could see students using the list that way, too. Hey, maybe this book could *really* help boost the supportive atmosphere of the universities! EDIT- whoops, kenny I didn't see that you said any parent HERE. I would hope not, but who knows? |

Let me be more specific. I keep hitting on str8 guys accidentally because they look gay. It's just awkward for both parties involved when that happens.

Unfortunately it's not usually a polite response, like "Sorry, but I'm not gay." It's usually something like, "What are you looking at, faggot?" or, "You got a problem with your eyes, faggot?" And in NYC, I find this particularly disturbing. That's why I'm moving. |

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D | |

Really? Where to, if you don't mind? You can PM. I don't think there is a city anywhere where straight guys can be counted on to politely decline interest from a gay guy. Be careful. We live in a dangerous world. I think it is going to be many many generations before being gay is no big deal. Slavery ended long ago but still crappy attitudes towards blacks are still pretty common. |

My university had only co-ed dorms. Men, women, straight, gay, anything in between - all mixed up together. Even the suites (Rooms with a common tv area, kitchen, two bathrooms, and 5 single rooms) were co-ed. It wasn't an issue at all. When I lived in the Chuch and Wellesley area of Toronto, I would occasionally be approached in a bar by a woman asking if they could buy me a drink. My standard response was, "I'll let you know up front that I'm straight, but I'd love the company." 9/10, they'd sit down and have a drink with me, and more often than not, I'd buy the second round. People are people, and I had some great conversations that way. |

I lived in co-ed dorms, too...no worries for me. I wonder though, if one requested, do think it would be even possible to get a straight-men-only dorm? It makes sense if they have gender specific dorms right now... |

The only problem is there are EXCELLENT reasons to stay in the closet so some of those guys in the straight dorm are going to be gay. It's a chicken and egg thing. |
