Clerks 2
Miami Vice
Lady in the Water
Accepted - opens August 18th

ON VIDEO

Also, we will have a review up Thursday night for the Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti new movie, The Illusionist, that opens on August 18th.

Enjoy!

Ya know, your site has become one of my favourite movie review sites. Who would've ever thought! :D
No truly, I like your short, to the point reviews, and I never get the feeling you guys are bashing a movie just to make yourselves look interesting. Cool! Keep it up :thumb:
You seem somewhat familiar. Have I threatened you before?

Thanks Nun! That means a lot. I've battled much with the temptation to make the site more interactive, the reviews longer, etc...but I know when I read other movie review sites, I really hate the long reviews. All I want to know is if it's good or bad, anything else I should know, etc....without any spoilers.

I think in the future, I might make it dynamic (AKA, let users like you sign in, add guest reviews or comments, etc), but we'll see...it'll be a lot of work. :P

Yes, I like the way your site is looking too, 89th. I don't want to know every flippin' detail of a movie when I read a review.
I used your site the other day at work. We'd received a graphic novel version of 'The Scanner Darkly', and while it struck me as a piece of cr*p, I do have to acknowledge all types of readers......I read your review of the movie, and felt justified in saying 'no'. So thanks.

Yes, 89th, very professional looking website you have there!

Although, I have to say, I think it's kind of cheating how the visitor counter at the bottom counts off every time you refresh the page ;)

Sue, glad I could help!! :P

Opt...yeah, it's more of a marketing thing really. I get detailed specs of "unique hits" (which is only one hit per person, per day), but the visitor count is kinda fun to watch. BTW, today's stats are going through the roof. Doubled the previous record of unique hits by noon...crazy! :D :excited:

do you get a map too? My friend Terry's hit stats come with a global map of IP addresses and points of origin...since I am probably the only one in Gardner, Kansas who reads his NYC arts blog everyday, he knows *exactly* when I look at it!!!!!!!

A map- now THAT would be cool! Especially with the global readership we get at this forum.

89th, you could post your website's business card here and have members print them out and pass around to friends to boost your exposure even more :cool2:

for really big exposure, each of your reviewers should start a blog on one of the big sites....Xanga, MySpace, Facebook etc.

Frequent posts, lots of links back to Cinemafox ("Tomorrow I see X" "Yesterday I finally saw the much awaited X, it was nothing like I expected. For my full review, INSERT LINK TO CINEMAFOX") Join a bunch of "groups" on each site that have to do with movies, theatre, the arts. Comment on other people's sites so they will come to your blog to find out who you are. If they "subscribe" to your blog, they will be notified when there are new postings, so it is to your advantage to post frequently...nothing big, just a line or two about what you're planning to review, stars in the news, plans for coming movies, etc. The amount of people in the age group that see a lot of movies is *enormous* on those sites. Work it right and your counter will go into orbit.

Well, I can track where the last 100 people came from, which page(s) they went to, where they are located, etc....although I don't really use that feature. I usually just looked at how many unique hits the site gets. :nerd:

Thanks Deb, when I have a major movie update (like this thread), where I see a major movie or two, or have uploaded a bunch of new reviews, I usually let people know here, the cinemafox facebook group, etc. I plan to keep growing.

Opt, I doubt anyone here would pass out cinemafox business cards, although that would be cool! :P

That might be nice, I don't know, but I really like the simplicity of your site. And reviews by guests tend to get pretty long too, go take a look at imdb.com (which I'm sure you'll know). I do love the discussions going on there though :D

"Hey, I don't know why all you people love this movie so much. It was afwully boring!"

"You don't know anything about movies you "'(è!çàpç")-"é!!! This movie rules, you ùµ$ùéè§&éé! Get lost!"

or

"Hey, the rating says there is nudity in the movie. How much do you get to see? I ask because I'm 16 and don't know if it's OK for me to see this film."

 All valid points, Nunatax.

I've received almost 100% good feedback about the simplicity of the site - which I was originally going for. The "Google" look. :nerd:

...although I've had a few requests from people who want to add their own reviews or comments. We'll see. No rush....thanks for the nice words.
