Man. I just had occassion to visit a not-oft-enough frequented corner of my bookshelf for some help with another thread when I read...

'"We the People," summons forth the still radically democratic idea that the government of the United States exists to serve the people, not the people to serve the government. That is fundamental to the Framers' original intent, as is the related idea that government in the United States cannot tell us what to think or believe about politics, religion, art, science, literature, or anything else; American citizens have a duty as well as the right to keep the government from falling into error, not the other way around.'*

Reassuring words.

Politicians, and not just American ones, should have this tattooed on their foreheads when they decide to run for office.
What do you mean "we", have you got a mouse in your pocket?

Let's clarify that statement a bit - it *is* a democratic idea, but it is *not* a Democrat idea.

To be fair, Larry, it's not exactly trumpeted by the GOP, either. Politicians are politicians, whatever the party. They think the sun shines out of their asses, and that their sh!t doesn't stink. Of course, it does stink, but they don't notice the smell for the same reason a skunk doesn't.

Who implied that is was a Democrat idea other than you?
And how are you today?
