I can't imagine what must have been said to him to make such a stupid move at such a critical moment. |

He's known as a bit of a hothead. He pulled something similar in the '98 WC. Thought he would have matured though. Well done Italy. |

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D | |

I live at the corner of a fairly busy downtown intersection. Horns screams and shouts are all I've been hearing. And when I look out the window it's a sea of Italian flags waving out windows. |

He's an absolute disgrace and the German Police should be dealing with the matter TBH. Mindless thugs like that need locking up. |

It's a FIFA matter, and it should go no further than that. If anything Zidane disgraced his legacy, and lost the game for France. That's enough of a punishment. There were worse fouls in the WC, IMO. |

I agree, Phlebas, what he's done to his legacy has got to be the biggest punishment. |

If somebody assaults somebody in public, he should be prosecuted, IMO. Football is not a man's sport. It's a sport for over-paid long-haired popstar lookalikes. Cricket is a man's sport. Men drink beer in the intervals, and have sex with each other's wives during tea-break. Footballers have sex with each other on the damn pitch when somebody scores, and cry like girls when somebody kicks them, and dive all over the shop at any given opportunity. Man's sport indeed. |

Cool. There's a large Italian community here in Vancouver too, and I'd be willing to bet the party is pretty good over there too. The Italians know how to celebrate.

All joking aside, I didn't watch a single game. I've experienced too many World Cups living in England where you don't hear about anything else for about 3 months, and it eclipses everything else, literally. It's only a game. |

The Italian celebrations are extremely weak compared to Brazil. I just came back from one- it was fairly boring. When Brazil wins, there is samba, people jumping around, and real excitement. Italian celebration is just bad techno! |

You really need the English to win if you want spectacular celebrations. If it ever happens again (unlikely), the post-game festivities will make the Normandy Invasion look like a Women's Institute seaside outing. Trust me. |
