Damn that New York Times, always reporting on state secrets, like rendition and torture of innocent men!
It would be unwise to underestimate what large groups of ill-informed people acting together can achieve. -- John D'Oh, January 14, 2010.

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
I cannot say that the story is true or false, but I saw no supporting evidence. But:

"In May 2003, Mr. Saidi was expelled from Tanzania, where he ran a branch of Al Haramain Islamic Foundation, an international charity based in Saudi Arabia that promoted the fundamentalist Wahhabi strain of Islam and has since been shut down after being accused of financing terrorist groups. "

He was also living on a fake passport. Somehow this guy doesn't quite pass the smell test to be a badly wronged hero.

I fail to see the connection between publishing this story and publishing state secrets.

Mmmmmmm, pie!
It's what you'd call a "twofer", JB. He got off two swipes with one shot. It doesn't matter swipe was correct, or justified. To a democrat facts aren't the important thing - getting to attack Bush or the Republican party is the only thing they have to offer.

Actually, he is attempting an off hand exoneration of the Times for publishing what clearly should not be published by conflating that with a legitimate story even though there is no connection relevant to state secrets. I would have expected something less ham-handed from QE.
