Saw this with my wife. What a wonderful story.

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

I think I'm the only person in the world that likes Keanu as an actor. I didn't see this movie yet, I heard it got mediocre-at-best reviews, but your comment makes me want to see it now. Thanks!

A fair amount of the movie was filmed in the small town (suburb) where I live. The railroad station is the one that I use to go downtown, and the lawyers offices are really a pharmacy that closed about 2 years ago. They've since torn down the building and (sigh) condos are going up there now.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

Yeah, I see that they tore down Henninger's. Of course, the huge parking lot behind it was a waste and an eyesore, though. I'm not surprised, though, since they've been doing similar projects in downtown areas all up and down the BN line. Have you seen the row houses they put up at the Delaplaine crossing (where the Sunoco station was)? (They're much nicer than the quonset hut conversion they did at Herbert years ago.)

Sometimes I miss living there....

I went yesterday with "the girls" while the other boys went to "over the hedge". (That one is a real hoot, good for both the 5th grader and the college son.)

I really enjoyed it too - just "go for the ride", don't try to hard to figure out the details... I'm glad I didn't listen to the reviews. (But then, I hardly ever do!)

Good advice.

You used to live there!!!! :hat:

Cool. I moved into town in 1980, lived on Selborne, across from the mall for 4 years. Currently live close to the center of town - a block from the schools, two blocks from the train. Good location.

A house in my neighborhood was a teardown. It was a nice, modest ranch owned by an OB. Some dotcom guy tore it down, and built a monstrosity there. Of course, he has to sell now, and he's asking over $3.5 mil for it! I hope he gets it! Makes my value go up when I sell (hopefully in 3.5 years!).

Yep, great town. 140 years of history unimpaired by progress... :smokin:

HOLY CARP!!!
I just saw The Lake House last night. I thought it was a very good movie. There is a scene at the end where anyone w/half a heart will get a big lump in their throat. I had quite a bit of it figured out as it went along but still enjoyed it very much.

I have never been a fan of Keanu Reeves - his acting style from Bill and Ted to Speed to The Matrix seemed all the same or a variation of it. I was really floored by his acting this time. He seemed completely natural and real. He was the best part of it.

I think he pulled it off rather well. I was pleasantly surprised.

Having never seen that acting style from him before, it is quite a significant achievement in my book!

You wouldn't be referring to that hideous faux chateau thing on Nuttall, would you? It barely even fits on the lot! All I can say is 'good luck' with trying to sell that house. It's overblown, even by the town's standards. Myself, I prefer that huge Gothic Revival number on the town's eponymous road (down from the fire station), you know the one I mean? It was on the market about 10 years ago for a paltry $400K.

The "G" family had lived in that town for four generations! I was the last to leave. I still have many friends in the neighborhood. I miss the short commute. I don't miss the noise from the freight trains, though!

Well, he was a lot better than Ted, at least, even back then!
