I've heard so many women complain that a guy just doesn't know what he's doing -

always going straight for the nipple. Sheesh!

Maybe if you had some remedial lessons you wouldn't hear that so much.

I know next to nothing about guns. I do know there's lots of guns in Iraq. I'm pretty sure that people don't stop each other in the street and politely say 'pip pip, old sport, would you mind stepping this way, I'd like you to join me in a little bit of fun' before shooting them in the back of the head.

Guns do not necessarily make a polite society.

The gun is the Great Equalizer.

It puts most people on the same playing field in terms of personal defense.

In Iraq, we have the problem of an armed insurrection, led by terrorists and former military...and, not all citizens are armed, and certainly not armed equally.

Your challenges are meaningless.

But, if challenges are so meaningful to you, I challenge you to swim 20 miles out into the Gulf.

Come on, hotshot, you've been challenged!

I repeat, Karnak, you don't know what I know or don't know about guns or people who use them, because I refuse to give you any information to evaluate.

I don't care what your experience is, because I haven't suggested that you are a know-nothing when it comes to guns. Nevertheless, you have no clue about me or my experience. You're the one who has this consistent need to prove your credentials. I don't.

So keep blowing smoke out of your a$$ about how I've proved your point. All I've done is treated your challenge like the pre-teen testosterone display it was, and refused to respond. Take that however you like, ignorance is after all bliss, so go be blissful.

How many people in Japan carry concealed weaponry? They're a pretty polite bunch. So are the Germans. Maybe extensive carpet-bombing creates a polite society. Would that work on New England, I wonder?

Actually, until pretty recently, personal weapons were the norm in Japanese society.

OTOH, they've been pretty much banned in England, one of the most violent societies in the First World...

I think murder rates are a little higher in the US, actually, by a factor of about 10. I believe that much of the violence in the UK would be considered relatively minor, and I suspect is largely the fault of the English propensity for binge drinking. Adding firearms to that particular pastime would not be a very smart move, IMNSHO. Americans don't have the same problem, since anyone foolish enough to binge drink American beer is liable to require urgent medical attention.

But the Japanese are often trained in martial arts. A deadly but polite society if ever there was one. :tongue:

Beer aside (where you may be right, I don't know), the staistics I looked at this morning showed Britian quite a bit higher than most of the West for violent crimes. Didn't check the murder rate, though...

As much as it pains me to find statistics that support Jolly, here goes:

Here are Interpol 2001 crime statistics (rate per 100,000):

* 4161 - US
* 7736 - Germany
* 6941 - France
* 9927 - England and Wales

Here are the Interpol 1995 crime statistics (rate per 100,000):

* 5278 - US
* 8179 - Germany
* 6316 - France
* 7206 - England & Wales

Excuse me, but how do you know what cards I'm holding? Please be specific, because I haven't said anything, one way or the other.

Claiming you know someone's cards when you don't have any information other than guesswork is a good way to look like a moron, and a better way to lose your shirt when you're playing poker. I'd let you keep your underwear, but your pants would be mine.
