HOLY CARP!!!
I've heard a few people here casually mention that they saw Pink Floyd, or The Beatles. Um, WOW!

What are some of the most enjoyable acts you've seen throughout your life?
(not limited to rock shows, of course- though my uncultured ass will be ^_^ )

My favorite concerts so far would be:
Wilco
Beck
My Morning Jacket
Neko Case
Cake
Carbon Leaf

Best Concert I ever went to:

Oct 31, 1969.

Don't remember the opening act. But the next band was The Kinks. They played for an hour and a half, warming up for the headliners that night: The Who. They played for 2 hours.

My ears were bleeding after that concert.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

Speaking of which...I'm going to Ben Folds on June 28th and going to 311 on August 25th. I also just went to a Rach III concert a couple weeks ago.

Also...random...I'm going to a symphony concert about movie themes next week! :D

Several come to mind:

October 1969 on the campus of Randolph Macon College:

warmup act: unknown Jersey band called Steel Mill. They had a scrawny longhaired guitarist named Bruce Springsteen and they stole the night.

second act: at-the-time-unknown brass band called Chicago Transit Authority, later shortened their name to Chicago

final act: Iron Butterfly

July 1972 Norfolk Scope

opening act: Stevie Wonder
headliner: The Rolling Stones

Winter's End Rock Festival, Bithlo, Florida March 1970:

Johnny Winter
The Allman Brothers Band
Mountain
and some others I don't remember

also seen:

Jefferson Airplane
Janis Joplin
Traffic
Yes
Ten Years After
Santana
Doobie Brothers
Billy Joel
Elton John
It's A Beautiful Day
Deep Purple

lots more but CRS prevents me from naming them at the moment. :whome:

It was watching his live DVD that inspired me to start learning the Beethoven Op. 14 #1 sonata.

I'll learn the Prokovief next week.

Best concert by far: Ravi and Anoushka Shankar at Strathmore. It was amazing.

Others that were pretty darn good: Bob Dylan (twice), and several at my school have been very good.

I haven't been to any rock concerts, but there aren't many groups I really want to see. I'd much rather go to a good opera or piano recital.

And how are you today?

First concert I ever went to was in 1975 and it was Lynyrd Skynrd at the Glasgow Apollo, and they were awesome. Other good concerts:

Boston - Royal Highland Showgrounds, Edinburgh (late 70'S)
Carpenters - Edinburgh Playhouse (late 70'S)
Supertramp - Hammersmith, London (early 80's)
Human League - Oslo (early 80's)
Madness, Oingo Boingo, Police - San Diego State Aztec Field 1983
Grover Washington Jr - SDSU Amphitheatre 1985
Dire Straits - SDSU Amphitheatre 1986
Free July 4th concert on the Mall (Washington) 1988
Hootie and The Blowfish - SDSU Amphitheatre mid 90's
Spice Girls - Coors Amphitheatre late 90's (yes it was a fun show!)
Christina Aguilera - Coors Amphitheatre 2000'ish
Eagles - Coors Amphitheatre 2003'ish
Maroon 5 - USD gym 2004'ish
Elton John - SDSU Cox arena 2005
Bare Naked Ladies - Hard Rock Cafe, Orlando 2005 (this was part of a technical conference!).

Have seen some real dogs too. Most disappointing was David Bowie at Milton Keynes Bowl in 1983. Otherse were UB40, Reo SpeedWagon, Madonna, Britney Spears.....

Best concerts?

I've seen Springsteen 5 times (from 75 to last month), U2 3 times, Billy Joel twice, Elton John once, Jackson Browne, Arlo Guthrie, Bonnie Rait, Joe Jackson, Bread (!) and Three Dog Night.

I always got my money's worth.

It's A Beautiful Day

Hey, I missed this group at first glance!

My dad loved that one song of theirs, "White Bird." Did they have any other hits back in the day?

Good thread, Opt!

Stand out concert was Lyle Lovett at the Commodore in Vancouver (mid 80's)

Other good ones from that era;
John Hiatt
Little Feat
Bruce Hornsby
Ladysmith Black Mombazo

earlier 70's stuff; Bob Marley (although it was a little hard to see :smokin: )
Bob Seeger
Rod Stewart
Elton John

there were lots of stinkers too, but mercifully, I can't think of any names right now.

I mostly go to small, local concerts now, although I just bought tickets to see Arturo Sandoval in August. I'm really looking forward to that!
