A Monday in June.

No Supreme Court Decisions announced.

Very unusual with so many important cases still to be announced before the end of the month when the Court's term ends.

I am thinking the Court was going to announce its decision on Guantanamo and decided to wait a week or so on that one given the international uproar caused by the suicides there.

Rick, do you think they'll actually render a decision on Gitmo?

Rick, do you think they'll actually render a decision on Gitmo?

On the issue before them, yes. They have heard arguments and it is one of the decisions they are expected to render this term.

As I understand the case they are considering, it deals with whether there has been adequate due process in holding the people there.

I had expected (and still expect) it to be a very narrowly worded decision upholding the Bush Administration. However, as I pointed out it was surprising to me they rendered no decisions on Monday. If my conjecture is right and they held back the Gitmo decision, perhaps I am wrong about their decision and they will rule against Bush but they did not want to add to the controversy that arose over the weekend.
