HOLY CARP!!!
A coworker said he saw on the Discovery channel a show about tourture methods.

Apparently the Nazis discovered if you put a plastic bag over a person's head and tape it around their neck with duct tape the person will panic and struggle to get the tape off instead of just ripping through the plastic.

The brain's ability to reason shuts down when in panic mode.

Isn't that surprising?

Further research has shown that it is only democrats who grab at the tape..... ;)

Sort of....a good post Kenny. I've heard of that before, and it makes sense -- maybe someone else can talk more about it, but I'm sure when you panic, your brain (and body) is injected with a million chemicals that really inhibit your ability to think clearly.

I heard a quote once...sort of relative to this discussion: You should take a while on minor decisions, and decide quickly with major decisions. (something like that)

I think it depends on the person. Some people think far more clearly and with greater lucidity in that sort of situation. The adrenaline rush makes them think more quickly, it's as if time slows down.
It would be unwise to underestimate what large groups of ill-informed people acting together can achieve. -- John D'Oh, January 14, 2010.

Proving my point, by the way..... democrats have been in a panic ever since they lost power...... :D

Also this guy thinks they said that the plastic has to be clear to the victim can see out.

(But did they even make clear plastic in the 1940s?)

He and I also wondered if he or I were tortured if we would still try to unwrap the tape even though we "know" better.

It is an interesting thing, the brain.

Dry cleaning bags? Those were around in the 1950's, at least.
