HOLY CARP!!!
|
Over the past few weeks, my grade 7 and 8 students have realized that the Language teacher is switching to Junior (grade 5/6) and that leaves the grade 7/8 language job open. Today, they were discussing this in one of the classes, and one of the kids said, "Why doesn't Ms. D just take the job?" Reportedly, this was followed by lots of, "That would be awesome!" from the grade 7s, and grumbling from the grade 8s who will already be in highschool next year. Then a disgusted uproar when they were informed that I will apply for the job, but it's not guaranteed I'll get it. Several of them approached me later in the day to wish me luck and to tell me they hope they'll have me next year. Have I mentioned I love my job? On a side note, my vice principal asked me to sit down with one of the other grade 7/8 teachers and make the rotary schedule for next year, so we've spent the last week and a half (about 7 hours total) doing that. Then the VP went and put my name on that teacher's schedule. I love the vote of confidence, but I informed him that if I don't get the job, I'll know who to blame since he's jinxed me. ![]() The posting comes out on the 20th, and I'll know on the 27th (the second last day of school). |

It's nice to be recognized by your peers and, I think, very gratifying to be recognized by your students. Good luck, Dol. I hope things work out for your sake and for your students' sake. Big Al |

That's great, dol. To know that the kids you are teaching, the kids who are what your job is all about, appreciate you, must feel really, really good. Hope that made your headache better.
