from wiki... "Flight of the Bumblebee" is recognizable for its frantic pace when played up to tempo, with nearly uninterrupted runs of conjunct chromatic sixteenth notes. It is not so much the pitch or range of the notes that are played that challenges the musician, but simply the musician's ability to move to them quickly enough. Although the original orchestral version mercifully assigns portions of the sixteenth-note runs to various instruments in tandem, in the century since its composition the piece has become a standard showcase for solo instrumental virtuosity, whether on the original violin or on practically any other melodic instrument. |

Well, it has been done on the tuba. Now, as an organ pedal solo, that would be something. |

I played the sousaphone (marching band relative of the tuba) years ago. I don't think I was ever up to "Flight of the Bumblebee". I have heard a few tuba players that might attempt it. Has anyone ever heard of the "Tuba Christmas" program to promote tuba concerts in public venues around Christmas? Big Al |

I also played Sousaphone in high school. "Flight of the Bumblebee" was definitely not in my repertoire. |
