I Owe It All To John D'Oh
|
They've had to cancel or re-route a bunch of concert dates. Apparently, they are more popular in Australia, Canada, and Europe right now. On the other hand, they have the best-selling album in the country, two weeks running. Speculation about the reasons for the poor concert sales ranges from politics, to a change in their style to a more Southern California rock sound. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1150075940...s_editors_picks |

Good riddence to bad rubbish. (Just kidding). Though I did quit listening to them for a while after they put out the song "Earl's gotta die" or something like that. |

I quite like them, nice mellow stuff. And yes, they are pretty popular here. Their political stance probably adds to their popularity. |

Which, of course, is why they have the best-selling album in the country. For two weeks running. |

Like that matters.... There were races going on in town, and I didn't know about them. Went to go shopping, and WOW, there were a lot of rednecks there. They were having fun, so it's cool. |

Yes, it does. Let me explain... What would you rather have - a brief career in music, or a one spanning decades? Except for the very cream, pop or rock is ephemeral. Country is a 40 year career, down in NASCAR country... |

ANY music can be a career if you want it. but, you're right. MOST country can die away, and the world would be better. And, there are MANY other places other than "NASCAR country" where country is "a 40 year career". There's a reason for fads, and for short careers. Some people just suck. Like the Dixie Chicks.

I'd rather never, ever, ever, ever, ever have to listen to 'My achy breaky heart' ever again. Ever. I really mean it. Not even a single line. If that means the use of large scale strategic thermonucleur weaponry and the loss of an entire culture, well, that's a sacrifice I'm prepared for you to make. Goodbye Nashville, 10 thousand wonderful artists wiped out by a single song. The Billy-Ray of Death. Oh God, just typing the title of THE SONG THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED has got it started in my head. NOOOOOOOOOOOO! [John D'Oh hacks off ears with blunt knife] |

Nope, the largest percentage of population serving in the military hails from the NASCAR states. The largest percentage of population serving in the officer corps hail from the NASCAR states. And I have a little experiment for ya....get a volunteer to bring an American flag with you to Darlington, Talladega, Daytona or Texas Motor Speedway. Burn that flag in full view of the crowd. See if there's enough left of the body to bury...or if they just pick it up with a stick and a spoon, then throw it out with the rest of trash.... |
