Just another right-wing screed with cherry picked information to justify Bush!tler's little escapade into the Middle East.

That would be because Faux News conjured it up, as they usually do.

The gullibility of so many otherwise intelligent people never ceases to amaze me.

Evidence please? I don't recall Fox news ever being caught in a fabricated story.

No, actually it is because there is a general blackout in the media on anything that tends to support the notion that Saddam Hussein had anything to do with Islamic terrorism. We have already seen it time and again to the point that it is amazing to me that otherwise intelligent people could even question it (the media bias or the connection). Of course, if the torrent of documentary evidence is unconvincing simply because it is carried by Fox News (and other outlets) then I would even have to call into question the "otherwise intelligent" part of that.

Have you read the 9/11 Comission Report?

Have you read any of the recently translated documents captured in Iraq?

The 9/11 Commission did yeoman's work in ignoring the evidence they had available at the time. I doubt they could be so successful given recent revelations and, in fact, some of the Commission members are on record as saying the conclusions drawn by the 9/11 Commission can no longer be supported given the recent findings.

We are surprised that countries that were under the intense suspicion of the US and felt threatened by the US talked to each other about a joint response?

If you are, why?

And what does this sudden "insight" provide us?

(Since this is from 1999, kind of puts to rest the allegations that Clinton was not taking the threat seriously or doing anything about it, doesn't it? It sures sounds to me like these guys were not feeling too comfortable)

The sound of furious packpedalling as Rick now wants us all to understand why it would be so reasonable that Iraq and Al-Qada had ties after years of denying it.

This is circular logic. You make the premise that these people were talking to one another solely because they felt threatened by us and then proceed to say that Clinton must have been putting pressure on them because they were talking to one another.

Does it even occur to you that these people would cooperate with one another against us because they just don't like us and were actually emboldened to cooperate with one another because of Clinton's (and others before) inaction? This is not necessarily an indictment against Clinton since he could never have generated the political will in this country to take these people out pre-9/11.

Actually, I have made the same type of comments about Hussein and Al Quaeda.

No change in position here.

So then, if those feeling threatened by the US now talk to each other about how to jointly react, this is because of Bush's "inaction"?

Or do you think those who oppose us are not talking to each other now because they are quaking in their boots after seeing how successful we have been in Iraq?

Huh???

This does not even make sense.

What makes you think they are not talking to each other and that a perception or lack of perception of threat by us is they only reason they would or would not?

Your logic is going very quickly downhill.

Sorry, Rick, your logic, if any, entirely escapes me. Perhaps you would like to explicate as I did.

Ties Between Iraq And The Taliban?

How do you think they compare to Saudi Arabia's ties with the Taliban?

Or ties between Pakistan and the Taliban?

What's your point, Jon? The thread purports evidence that Iraq and the Al Qaeda/Taliban were in conversations at pretty high levels. This has been constantly denied and even considered as fabricated justification by MSM. Are you trying to spread the story to avoid focus on the events that have to be discredited to maintain the "Bush Lied" legend?
