HOLY CARP!!!
|
I hate it when this happens. I can't sleep. About once an hour I get up and wander around. Check in here. Then go back to bed. Repeat. Argh. |

Insomnia is why I post at 4AM. Fall asleep, wake up three to four hours later ... up for an hour or two. I attribute my insomnia to age. You don't have that excuse, Dol. |

HOLY CARP!!!

When my youngest was born, she had some medical difficulties for her first two years. During those two years I did not once have the opportunity to sleep for longer than 2 hours at a shot. Apparently, 2 years of sleeping weird is enough to screw you up forever. She's 12 now and I still wake up every couple of hours. |

HOLY CARP!!!

Well, I fell asleep soon after posting this. Woohoo! Then got up at 6. I'm a "need 8 hours" kind of girl, though. ![]() Today was day 6 of a headache that started as a migraine and now is just a comes and goes feels like it will turn into a migraine but doesn't quite get there headache. I already warned my principal that if I wake up with it again tomorrow, I'm calling in sick. Me thinks it's tension.

I would think getting online would wake you up more, so that you can't get back to sleep. I find that a hot bath/shower helps one sleep more sound. |

There are a few accupressure points you can try. Let me see if I can locate some info. |

This page is pretty good because it has pictures that locate the points for you. Scroll down to the bottom, you'll see a list of points for insomnia. Accupressure |

Have you seen a Doctor? I went to the Columbia Presbyterian Headache center in NY, with the very issues you've described. I now take very low doses of Doxepin and Atenolol in the evening, and both problems are significantly better. One is an old tricyclic anti-depressant, the other is a beta blocker. The doses are far lower than what would have been prescribed for their originallly intended use. When the migraine flares up, I have Maxalt mlt, which I understand is similar to Imitrex. I hope you feel better soon! |

I have Doxepin, too, but I only take it when I'm desperate. Absolutely desperate. |

HOLY CARP!!!

I actually used to be on Atenolol for SVT several years ago. The drug didn't work well for me, because my blood pressure is already low, so it made me feel like carp all the time. My mum gets migraines. My grandfather got them. My great grandfather got them. Where's that "What have you inherited?" thread again? Thanks for the replies, all. I'll check out the acupressure sites in the morning, Bernard. Accupressure has worked for me before for motion sickness, so it's definitely worth a shot.

What are the negatives for you, Quirt? I only take 10 mg, and as long as I have a few hours to sleep, it's all good. |
