HOLY CARP!!!
I test drove a Dodge Neon yesterday, and my mom and I both like it. I might get it tomorrow.

Does anyone have any experience with Neons? Just wondering.

It's a 2000 model, 42k, gas milage seems pretty good (27/33).
And how are you today?

I'm not big on Neons...

A car I am big on, about the same age....Chevrolet Prism.

Consumer Digest's #1 value in a used car. It's essentially a Toyota Corolla with a blue bowtie....

I think they have one of those...but it's also a '93...

I might look at it.

Thanks

My friend rolled one (3 rolls over) trying to avoid a big deer. He and his 6 yr old son survived. The car did not. Does that help?
I'd rather fall into chocolate.

My ex drove a 2000 Neon. I really liked it. He was hit in it over the winter (slippery roads, a car in that oncoming lane hit the shoulder, overcorrected, and went head-first into the driver side of my ex's car). He and Liam were fine. The car was a write-off.

Maybe a mite too long in the tooth...you want one built in California by the joint GM/Toyota venture. Do read up on them on somewhere like Yahoo, or Edmund's.

Another consideration....when buying cars for young people, you might want to check out prospective stuff with your insurance agent. Some cars cost a bit more than others.

Cheapest thing I've found? Buicks, believe it, or not....

Oh, I can believe the Buick thing.

Insurance agent.....I don't have one. Will soon after getting a car though!

I think I'm going to get the car tomorrow. My dad said OK, and I think it is a safe car. I guess I'll find out....

It's like that but in a tan/sandy color.

It does seem pretty fun to drive. It was in the 30 or so minutes that I did...with my mom acting as a second driver (all out of love, i know  )

Thanks, all.

I (meaning my mom) bought it today! :woot: :woot:

I was 1/2 hour late for work because of it, but my boss didn't mind. I called ahead of time, so it was cool.

I drove it straight from the dealer to work (about 20 min) and then from work to home (2 min). I still need to get used to the fact that it's not my mom's car and doesn't need as much weight on the pedal and as much force on the wheel :whome:

It's fun!

I'm going to take it out tonight to see about the headlights, and to just test it more.

It's weird having a car! But fun

I owned two, albeit earlier versions.

Pretty good crash test results for the front occupants.

That engine frequently needs a new head gasket at around 80k, but it's not a killer expensive job. Brakes tend to wear faster than they ought to. If you're considering an automatic, it's unfortunately a 3 speed, which makes things a bit noisy at hway speeds, and lessens economy.

That said, I had a 5 speed, and I bought my wife the auto, and we experienced little elso in the way of trouble. I though both handled and drove well, with plenty of power for your needs.

You could do FAR worse!

best of luck

There was a movie many years ago with Walter Matthau - think it was called Hopscotch. Seem to remember a scene where he is driving across Europe in a convertible, blaring opera while he sings along, including passing through a border post.
