Some of you will recall a couple of weeks ago I posted about a student of mine who had had a miscarriage and was beating herself up because she could not focus and get her work done. Since I asked for prayers, good intentions, etc for her, I figured I owed you all an update.

She came in to see me last week. She said the talk we had had changed her entire attitude. It was highly cathartic and she felt the weight liftered off her shoulders. She was again able to focus on her classes and assignments. She had finished them all and wanted to move forward on her Senior thesis and get it done. I told her OK. I expect it any day now.

She and her husband did separate -- but it turned out only briefly. As of yesterday when I got an email form her, they were back together and intend to get into counseling to work through whatever is going on between them.

She is graduating on Sunday.

Thanks for all who helped her out.

Glad to hear that, Rick.

Sounds like they're taking the right steps to improve their situation.

Things like that have to make your elite, ivory tower, tenured, cushy academic otherwise drab existence seem all worthwhile.

Good job, Rick.

Some people say that there's a difference between teachers and educators. If there is, you were both in this regard. Kudos.
