S. Korea - 2
Togo - 1

Later today - Brazil v. Croatia - should be a good game.
Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML

The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D

France and Switzerland 0-0 (extremely boring game). Brazil and Croatia up next :excited: .

In the 2002 WC I wanted to see Croatia and Italy play, but couldn't get it on TV, so I went to a Croatian social club in the neighborood - at 3:00am. Croatia beat Italy, and the 200 or so people packed in the club roared out into the street, and were met by about 200 Italian fans sunning out to the street from another club. I thought it was about time to go home then.

Like the vast majority of soccer games... :hide:
It was a confusion of ideas between him and one of the lions he was hunting in Kenya that had caused A. B. Spottsworth to make the obituary column. He thought the lion was dead, and the lion thought it wasn't.

NOTHING is better than hockey, limey! :P

And I refuse to dignify "soccer" with the word "football", which is more properly used to refer to AMERICAN (or Canadian, to be fair) football, an infinitely more exciting, fast-paced, and strategic game!

Brazil beat Croatia 1-0. No surprise, but it was a good game. Croatia played well.

Didn't quite figure out which team he was the coach for, but either Togo or S. Korea has a coach who looks like Dick Cheney!

Any other countries getting that add for Adidas? The 2 kids who look like they live in a Mexican slum are selecting their dream teams with the players showing up as they are named. The response of the one kid when the other says "Beckenbauer" cracks me up. Just saw the follow on where they are playing and arguing over a goal when Jose's mother appears on a balcony and orders him inside. Entertaining ads.

You bed to differ me?! Is that some sort of weird Brit expression?

And there are no offensive terms for Canadians because we're so good and pure.

That ad is going all the time. They should have had Beckenbauer run on with his dislocated arm in a sling - like he played the 1970 semi-final against Italy.

That was when men wee rallyy men, and all that crap.

Well, ouch, 4-0 for Spain. Bet there's not too much celebrating on the Ukranine side today.

My son went off the school today in his Germany jersey....in between finals, lots of his teachers are letting the kids watch the games.

Ouch indeed.
Where's Klaus, btw? He should check in with us on what he thinks of the Germany-Poland game - probably biting his nails somewhere.

Probably in a pub somewhere, biting his nails and quaffing a few beer.

Tunesia - Saudi Arabia game turned out to be a good one. 2-2 with Tunesia equalising in the 91st minute (good news for the Ukraine who stunk it today up worse that the US did on Mon.).

I didn't see it. I just followed it on the Web. Poland/Germany will probably be better to replay later.

Probably Pfister - the Togo coach (if he's hasn't been fired yet).
Advocaat doesn't really look like Cheney at all (we should get him to coach the US).

Anyway - Ecuador 3 - Costa Rica 0 (Ecuador looked like Brazil).
England and T&T in 30 minutes.
