So - we're down to France, Portugal, Germany and Italy. It's 4 European teams - not good for world TV viewership. WOuld be better if there was another continet involved. |

Wow! Great play by France. Zidane did a master cllass. I thought Brazil was weaker than usual, but thought they would still make the final. Henry was onside for about 5 mintutes of the game, and picked one of those moments to score. Ronaldo should never have been out there, and Adriano should have been. Anyway (revised) Semifinals: Italy v. Germany - Germany wins. France v. Portugal - France wins. Finals : Germany v. France - Germany wins. |

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D | |

I'd like to see the headlines of the English papers tomorrow. It will be interesting to see if Rooney gets the same treatment that Beckham got in 1998 for an equally boneheaded move. |

Great match. Germany was looking to get to penalties, and a great strike by Italy. What a game!! Of course, Germany pushed everything forward, and Italy got the next goal on a great counter. I'd say they'll win it all now. |

Oh great, tomorrow everyone in Boston's going to be an Italian. All the lads who drink green beer on St. Paddies day are going to be knocking back the Grappa like it's going out of fashion. Since when was O'Donnell an Italian name?

I heard it was not much of a game, and C. Ronaldo was doing a lot of diving. I saw a replay of the penalty, and it looked like a good call. I think a big congratulations to Germany is in order. They are doing a great job as World Cup hosts, and are showed very good sportsmanship in their loss on Tue. Anyway, sports predictor extrordinaire's pick for Sun: Italy 1 - France 0. |

Yes, great game, and congrats to Italy! A well deserved win, I thought. Wow, I was shocked at Zidane....what a sad end to his world cup days. How bizarre that he should do something so stupid, with all his years of experience. It'll be interesting to hear Jon's report when he gets back! What a game to have seen live. |
