Go Germany!!!! Fantastic match - I don't think I have a single fingernail left :)

I got a call from one of the guys out there after the match from one of the restaurant/clubs there. I could barely hear him everyone was so loud. They are whooping it up!!!!

...and Italy 3 - Ukraine 0 - much more low key match.

So far the only goal scored against Italy this WC was "scored" by Cristian Zaccardo - the own-goal in the US-Italy game.

Germany will play Italy.

The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D

So, what is your guess for the final?

Germany-England would be nice, but I predict England will loose in the semi-final against Brazil...

I have England going out tomorrow, but I hope they don't.

As for the final - same as '02, but this time you guys win.

Not me. I knew Germany was going to score, both teams would kick it around for 1/2 an hour in extra time, and with the Arg. 1st goalie out against Lehmann, Germany would win the shootout. The only question I had was why didn't Argentina put Messi in.

[edit] With me watching the games, why do they even need to play them?

I am hoping for a England-Germany final, such that Germany can take revenge for the 1966 Wembley goal 40 years later :P

That would be a real classic, and much more interesting than Brazil in the final again.

They think it's all over......it is now.

Be careful what you wish for. :)

I think Germany have it in the bag now, unless Brazil improve, which is possible. England aren't good enough to win this. I don't even think they're good enough to get to the final. Still, at least the Argies are out, for which we all owe Germany a massive debt of gratitude.
What do you mean "we", have you got a mouse in your pocket?

Are you kidding? I was hoping to watch the Argentine diving football team in the finals.

Now, please get the other cheaters Portugal out of the way.

I actually think France has a good chance against Brazil tomorrow (watch the two center backs for Brazil tomorrow, they're suspect).

My dad just told a funny, yet typical story about mentioning the World Cup in the US.

He's in Dallas on business (leaves today...his birthday. lol) and my brother wanted a Team USA shirt. Well, my dad goes into a sports superstore to get one, and the following conversation ensues:

Dad: Hello. Do you have Team USA football shirts?

Employee: What? Team USA Football shirts?

D: Oh. Right. I mean Team USA soccer shirts.

E: Soccer shirts?

D: Yeah, you know, for the World Cup????

E: OHHHH. No.

D: Right....

:veryangry: :banghead:

And how are you today?

Spurs.

Drat indeed. England was the better team today. How can Ronaldo show his face in Manchester after this?

Rooney made a stupid mistake. Lampard...what can I say?

This was one case where I hated to be right. So much for a great game between Germany and England. Germany should stuff Portugal.

England just couldn't come up big.

Ah well... Deutschland über alles! :D
It was a confusion of ideas between him and one of the lions he was hunting in Kenya that had caused A. B. Spottsworth to make the obituary column. He thought the lion was dead, and the lion thought it wasn't.

That was funny 15 years ago. Now lots of us know about the game. The England game was on our biggest network today - like lots of the other matches.

[edit] I thought that was a joke. I guess lots of us don't know about it. They probably don't know who their senators are either.

I'm not following the World Cup at all. But I'm assuming Portugal just won a game, considering there are about 30 cars driving around town with Portuguese flags flapping out the windows, honking their horns and hooting gleefully.

I am being purely objective - There is a 0% chance Brazil will not win the World Cup. 100% chance they will.

 Objective, eh?
Are you watching them play today? You might change your mind.
