Yeah. Ghana will open it up even more, and it'll be 4-0. |

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D | |

I was right on their tactics, but wrong on the final score. Brazil wins 3-0. Ghana is now officially "the Italy of Africa." They dive with the best of them. |

Too bad. No surprises with Brasil, but it would have been interesting to have one of the African teams (had my hopes on CIV) moving towards the finals. Shake things up a bit. Oh well, on to the next game. |

So far the Spain/France game has been exciting! I don't really care who wins. Ribery made a good goal.

Yeah they did! Every minute! It got to be quite annoying... I found it interesting that Spain used all of their subs before France used one, and when France did, it was in the 87th minute.

This WC will be remembered for it's bad calls. Granted, FIFA said they would clamp down on certain things - fould and diving. Well, you can't have it both ways. The cynical teams are diving even more, and they more naive teams - Ghana, USA, Mexico - get punished They should have started this change in league games - especially UEFA - and in qualifying. Better yet, make the refs professionals, and train them better. |

A few good passes, but horrible defense, and no finishing. And for God's sake get rid of Kingston. There must be someone in that country of 20 mil. who wouldn't get faked out of his boots. |

Well Phlebas you only missed two of the 16 not bad. Both Aussies and Swiss out of it I guess I have to go for my German friends on their home turf now. It wouldn't be bad to see England go all the way to the final with them but they won't do it the way they've been playing. |

Best part of France winning is Brasil gets to avenge the 98 final. That'll be cool. I really hope Argentina beats Germany - i'd love to see an all-Latin American final. |

No games today, but this is the way the quarterfinals are with my predictions: Germany v. Argentina (Germany wins) Italy v. Ukraine (Italy wins) England v. Portugal (Portugal wins - diving all the way - sorry England fans) Brazil v. France (Brazil wins) Then we have in the semis: Germany v. Italy (Germany wins - with Italy diving the whole game) Portugal v. Brazil (Brazil wins) So the final is the same as 2002: Germany v. Brazil (Germany wins the WC). I'll bump the thread again on Fri. when the quarters start, unless something newsworthy happens. |

That's very plausible too. The pivotal games are Germany v. Arg., and England v. Portugal. I think Germany is playing better, and England has a hard time with Port., plus the fact that Eriksson will still keep Beckham in at the expense of a second forward, which they desperately need. But, your prediction is as likely as mine. The only no-brainer is Italy v. Ukraine, but even there, who knows. |

I hope Germany wins. Argentina are a better team, but I can't stand the cheating buggers. It seems to be ingrained in the national psyche. |

Not to drag up old animosities, but did you hear that a year or so ago he said that it was OK for him to get a bit of divine help beating England since we'd 'stolen' the so-called Malvinas from Argentina. Knob-head. |
