Yeah, sorry about Carolina.

It looks like England is most likely facing Ecuador in the second round.

The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. Which one? "God Save the Queen", "Jerusalem", or "Land of Hope and Glory"?
It was a confusion of ideas between him and one of the lions he was hunting in Kenya that had caused A. B. Spottsworth to make the obituary column. He thought the lion was dead, and the lion thought it wasn't.

Dunno like, he's pretty canny. Crouch is decent enough though.

On the BBC site they had the table for group B with England having 9 points - wishful thinking. They just changed it back to 7 points.

Well, they get to play Ecuador now. So they should sail through to the quarters pretty easily.

BTW, I don't think England will ever beat Sweden. You had it on a plate tonight. Oh well.

Great match. From the off, England had twice as many chances in the first 10 minutes as they had in the entire length of the other two matches. The play was much more open and Joe Cole played a blinder. Yes it was sad to see Owen go down injured but we'll have to wait until tomorrow to see the extent of his injury. Okay, so we looked vulnerable at set pieces but hopefully Sven may be able to remedy this. The important thing was, we played a lot more positively and made tons more chances; I'd like to have seen Lampard put away some of his. Rooney has improved his fitness too.
I haven't contributed much to this thread because I tend to watch the matches later than actual playing time so I don't want to read anything that gives away the score. Good 'tho 'innit? :)
How now, brown cow.

That's ok. You can make snarky comments to me on Thur. when we play Ghana.

Yeah. It would be a pity if Owen and Rooney played together for less than one minute in the entire WC.

 I gave up on that!
The ones I can't watch live, I actually have come to appreciate the heads up on when the great plays were, the goals, etc., and which games were real snores. Then I can FF through the tapes, and catch up on all the games; just watching the good ones all the way through.

I agree, this was a good one. Joe Cool (ok, Cole) was great.

Watching Owen go down, I doubt he'll bounce back. That leg was bending the wrong way. :o

I thought we were mediocre at best and the second half we played *badly*. While I dislike football as much as I do, I still watched and TBH, it seems that our manager has just filled the squad with "stars" rather than the best players for the team. I don't understand why we have strikers who simply aren't even match fit. Are there so few decent English players that we have to have the star players no matter what their injury/fitness status is? I'm guessing it must be pretty demoralising for other English strikers that they didn't get capped but injured and/or unfit players did just because they're "star" players. Owen's leg is knackered, no doubt about it. That's ligament damage at least :/ Rooney didn't seem up to much either and that's the first time I've seen him play! I was expecting some kind of magic...
