Mmmmmmm, pie!
Had to come home this morning to take care of some business, going back to Nashville in a couple of hours. Had to tell you a funny. Was at a little get together last night at a friend's home in Brentwood. We got to talking about the war on terror. Hank says he has a solution to one group of terrorists......

Tonight we're gonna duck tape a Marshall amp onto Ted Nugent and throw him into the Dixie Chick's tour bus...........

A note on the Dixie Chicks....

They have recently had to cancel half of their upcoming concert dates, because they could not sell the required number of tickets. The Chicks were being booked into arenas seating approximately 15,000, and sales have been ssss......llll.....oooo......wwww..........

Maybe because they forgot that its not about them.. its about their fans. Had they just let the apolgy stand and realized they were in an arena they did not belong in, they would have done fine. But NOOOOOO.... we had to do an in-your-face album because some fool sent them a threatening letter.

Pretty much everyone has to keep their political leanings to themselves at work. Evidently they do too.

Larry, when are you coming back to create some more TNCR shenanigans? You've been gone so long that 89th and I had to take up the slack!

Oh sorry, that was meant for Larry - we were visiting some friends who live in Brentwood that weekend. Of course, it would have been nice if you were visiting there, too, Mik.

I Owe It All To John D'Oh
The Chicks' latest album is apparently selling pretty well, but they can't get air time on certain country music stations. Those stations won't even accept advertisements for their concert. This is part of the reason some venues got cancelled.

I'm not particularly concerned about it, though. There is often a price for speaking your mind, and you have to decide whether you want to pay it or not. They've spoken their minds, hopefully they were aware of the possible price and are reconciled to the consequences. As long as they aren't whining about censorship, I think this is the way our society is supposed to work.

Sales of the album (antiquated term) are about 800,000 last time I checked...I'll agree with some, and say it may hit the 1.5M mark, maybe even a tad better. That's not even close to their previous stuff, in tems of sales.

But they have lost their base, and pop is not noted for longevity.

Butts in the concert seats is what ultimately pushes the sales of new music, as is air play.

The future looks a bit lackluster.
