Plague? How, what, why?

Maybe the disease that rots liberals brains is going to start infecting conservatives. I always suspected Margaret Thatcher had Mad Cow disease for her entire tenure.

I actually believed England had erradicated rabies from their country, until I heard her.

The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D

It's very possible for me to look at it with an open mind, Phlebas. In fact, I have - and what I found is that the best people can do when coming up with examples of lies by Coulter is something as weak as you just did, while defending people like Michael Moore who can be shown to be a liar with almost every statement he makes, or Sheehan, now the Jersey Girls, and with today's announcement of what actually happened in Haditha, Murtha as well. I would suggest you take a closer look at your own open mindedness before you toss that rock. Somehow I fail to see how your example would be on the same level as Murtha's accusing our Marines of going on a killing spree "in cold blood" instead of waiting for the results of an investigation that now has shown them innocent of the charges.

Why are you making implications that I defend anyone? I haven't commented on the Murtha bit because I didn't follow it closely when it broke. If it waddles like a duck, I'll call him a liar, opportunist, or whatever fits.
I've called MM a liar, and a liability to liberals because he stretches the truth. I think I'm pretty open minded about that.

Back when Cindy Sheehan was in the news every day, I thought the attacks on her were horrible, after hearing her talk more, and see who she associates with, I changed my mind about it.

I happen to dislike Coulter about the same as MM, and I think I'm pretty open minded.

So what that Rick posts a demand for Conservatives to disavow Coulter. If I disavow her, does that mean I'm conceding any merit for the Leftist viewpoint or spokespeople?

No, it does not mean you are conceding anything.

You don't have to. In your heart, you know we're right!

:D :D :D :D :D

Scratch a liberal and find a fascist -- here's Rick with the new McCarthyism demanding that we publicly denounce Coulter!!!

thumps,

Yes, I was playing off a politcian, but not McCarthy.

You damned kids! Weren't around for one of the most memorable lines in mid-20th century politics! If you had been, you would have at least given me kudos for playing with it in an argument of liberals versus conservatives.

(Now I just hope FrankM is not offended because I have assumed he is a man of a "certain age" and will recall the quote.)

Yes, of course I remember perfectly. That was 1964, and that would be Gold … uh, hmmm … uhhhh … Goldfinger, right? :silly:

(Actually, Goldfinger probably would have gotten more votes than Goldwater. Hell, Satan would have gotten more votes than Goldwater.)

Ya know, I think I may be the oldest here -- certainly one of the oldest.

Does that make me one of the the wisest?

Well obviously erectile dysfunction is one of them, otherwise you wouldn't have had nearly enough time to make all those posts in such a short time.

Early Happy Birthday!

Thanks, jb.

Actually, I think I turn 55 tomorrow, beginning my 56th year. (When I was a child, I used to always be shocked (shocked I tell you!) when an older person had to stop and think about his/her age. Now I am not sure if it is because it really doesn't matter or because my mind is going.

So, George is the grampa here! And he has erectile dysfunction and a four other symptoms of old age!

I need to start being a touch more (but only a touch more) deferential.

I think, as a sign of proper respect, we should start referring to George as Papa George. Fortunately, as an anesthesiologist, Papa George always has ready access to oxygen.
