Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

This reminds me of when I was in Berkeley. The local prolife center had trash can tickers made that said "Please Don't Throw Away Your Baby", and mentioned where people could drop off new borns "no questions asked". The stickers were in both English and Spanish.

I place one on the dumpster outside of our building. Some *&*^% malicious probort vandalized the sticker. What a sick mentality we've acquired since abortion has become legalized. Even humanitarian efforts to assist women and provide discrete and positive alternatives to the blood bath are up for attack.

(And in the spirit of RZ's post about Coulter, I'll expect all the probort liberals to line up here and likewise decry this abominable action of some probort militant.)

The dogma lives loudly within me.

Not only will I condemn such disgusting behaviour, I'll also complain about your use of the term 'we' to describe this mentality. It's certainly not mine. I certainly wouldn't wish to lump people who oppose abortion on this board with the type of scum who blow up abortion clinics and murder doctors.

(IT - I know the above sounds as though I'm angry or shouting, so I'd just like to state that I'm not, I just don't know how else to word what I wanted to say ) :)
What do you mean "we", have you got a mouse in your pocket?

Do you think that in the 50s or 60s such common disregard was even on the radar screen?

I am speaking purely of the consciousness shift in America -- and the "we" includes all of us, John -- so even in context the word is not being used to point to anyone in particular. Indeed, I anticipated that even folks who support abortion might find those particular actions reprehensible.

Of course those actions are sick, but I was born well after abortion was legalized, therefore I am not part of this "we" you speak of. I was not there.

Point taken about the 'we'.

I don't honestly know what things were really like in the 50s and 60s, since all my knowledge is second hand. There was plenty of very unpleasant behaviour back then, though - mods and rockers fighting in Britain, abuse of American troops returning from Vietnam, people killing American Presidents and civil rights leaders they didn't like the look of.

I know you were talking about America, but in other countries there was plenty of very bad behaviour in the 30s and 40s indicating a mentality that was more than just sick. Hitler got a lot of votes from right-thinking ordinary people who may not have wanted a holocaust, but didn't mind seeing those uppity Jews being taught a lesson.

Are people really that much worse now?

I love graffiti! I always stop to try and read it when walking. One that I remember was from the late 60's in London. There was a "Make love not War sticker" on a wall and someone had written: "Amo, Amas, Amat'it again" on the sticker.

Arphocras hic cum Drauca bene futuit denario.

So is the infinitive of futuit, future?
