I suppose we should not be surprised that Bush intends to officially trash the Geneva Convention.

FWIW, and I can't google it right now - my brain isn't working - a veteran told me that anyone who is among civilians and opens fire on a uniformed soldier is also in violation of the Geneva Accords. THAT's the point I was trying (unsuccessfully) to make.

That is the way I understood it hence my puzzlement over what the heck Quirt was talking about. These Marines were not pretending to be civilians or hiding amongst them. If they did what they are accused of doing it is a plain violation of some basic protocols of war (I don't recallspecifically which and I am not going to google up something so obvious).

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".
