HOLY CARP!!!
|
Anyone know if it's possible for a new car with the latest Navigation system and XM radio to display live continuously updated maps of traffic conditions in large cities like Los Angeles? I'd almost kill for this. |

I can see it now: Pile=ups all over cities due to every driver looking at their live traffica cams  (A joke....) I'm sure people said/thought the same when they began carrying maps with them while driving. |
| And how are you today? | |

Short answer is yes. Requires an antenna and subscription to XM NavTraffic. Read about it here. |

Identifying narcissists isn't difficult. Just look for the person who is constantly fishing for compliments and admiration while breaking down over even the slightest bit of criticism. We have the freedom to choose our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences. | |

Well, are you willing to pay for it? It's $1938 for the receiver plus a $9.95/month subscription to the service.... |

ZOOOOOM!

Meh, wait until it becomes a more widespread service, and the technology improves. You'll get a better product and the price will be lower. I definitely wouldn't get one for another year at least. |
| I cite irreconcilable differences. | |

Well, in all fairness, that is MSRP. GPSDiscount.com has the StreetPilot 7500 going for $1319.00. The Streetpilot 7200 is $1119.00. The GMX30 antenna for Sat Radio, traffic and weather is $209.00 or The GTM-11 FM Traffic receiver is $169.00 which includes a 15 month paid trial subscription to Clear Channel TMC. Granted, that's still high, but these StreetPilot units are the top of the line. If I traveled (by car) for a living, I might consider these now. The price will come down, but living on the bleeding edge has always been expensive.

I've also found SIG alerts to be rough guidance, at best. At least down in San Diego. They often report problems that have since been cleared and traffic moving again. |
