HOLY CARP!!!
i'm going car shopping on Saturday after work! My mom is taking me (even though my dad is paying for most of it..). I looked at the website of the best place in town, and they have some nice student-type cars. A Nissan Altima, two Ford Tauruses (Taursi?? lol), a Mazda Protege, and some others (that didn't have CD players, so i don't want them :P ).

:excited: :excited: :excited: :excited:

oh...haha...first day of work was today. it wasn't bad, but i still smell like subs (mainly onions and sweet peppers)
And how are you today?

Fun!

A note though - you can put a CD player in a car where the factory radio is fairly easily and for under a couple hundred. So don't let that stop you from buying a great car!

Nope, can't get the Ka here. Neat looking ride, though.

My 16-year-old passed her driver's test yesterday, but...

NO CAR FOR YOU!

that's what my dad said.

on my 16 birthday he sent me an e-card that said something about being old enough for a set of wheels...he offered to get me a bike (which i took up after graduation!). but now that i am getting an apartment and stuff, he has offered to get a car. he also bought my brother one when he was my age, so there is also that card to play, if necessary :shifty:

Sounds like fun, LW! is the mazda a protege 5? That's a great little hatchback; if you can find a used one (I tried, but no luck). Great little car, be perfect for a student.

Glad to hear your first day went ok.

By the way, I have one of those trunk-mounted CD changers. It cost me about $200 installed, holds 10 CDs and works by transmitting a signal to my FM radio. Works great. I wish I had one with a cordless remote though (even if I this one can't get lost).

HoooWEE!
Look at that damn fiiiiine automobile!

Mine's in green, though, and has a big dent and what appear to be bullet holes along the drivers' side. Su-ba-ru! Su-ba-ru!

Have fun picking out your new car, LW! Pick something that'll last.

Also, if it has a tape slot, there is a device you can buy that allows you to plug in a discman into the tape slot.

I have no idea where one would find such a device, but I have seen them.

yes, my mom has had two such devices, and the tape player has just eaten the tapes, so they don't work.

i'm planning on staying away from those.

i plan on getting something that will last at least the next 2 years, which is why i need to convince my dad that $2000 -$3000 is not going to get me a car that will allow as much commuting as i plan.
And how are you today?

Best Buy, Radio Shack. . .any electronic store would carry them. That's what I use. High tech system for a snazzy car, y'see ^_^

EDIT- Ah really, LW? I've had mine about two years now, and never had a problem. It was like $20 bucks at Best Buy (it's a Sony model). Maybe it was something wrong with your mom's tape deck?

Many many moons ago... when I was 16, I asked my dad for a set of wheels.

He took me to the Firestone store and asked me which set I wanted.

Note to self... ask for the WHOLE CAR!!!!!

My dad was always the jokester. In a restaurant, after the waitress had returned, he would lean over and say... Gee, I don't think her feet stink.

At the cash register he would ask them if they took Hawaiian currency.

Once, while camping, he made foil dinners with cow poo patties. While we were hiking, he made new ones with hamburger. When we got back, he opened his and started eating... we thought he was eating the cow poo and were totally grossed out.

I'd rather fall into chocolate.
