HOLY CARP!!!
|
That saying got me thinking . . . I hate my horn, I love my car. Can I put a more macho car horn on my car? I'm embarrassed to use my horn. It sounds like a sickly asthmatic old lady with sinus congestion. Plus I don't think any other driver could hear it unless his or her (or "their" if it irritates you) radio was off and their windows were open. Does anyone know if the Accord horn will fit and work on my Civic without mods? Both must run off 12v. Does it draw more current and would that make it a bad idea, or might it blow fuses, or not be safe, or void the warranty or something? |

Airchime makes a line of horns you may want to consider. |

I did. I'm waiting for them to "research" this complex engineering challenge (as in consult their liability lawyers) and call me back.

![]() 132 SPL @ 1 meter Frequency 745 Hz + - 4 Hz Audibility Range 1Km in still air Operating Temperature -15C - +80C But they don't spec drag. ![]() I'd get it - I have just the sense of humor for putting this on a wimpy hybrid- but the forward-facing horn would kill my MPG.

Get one like Bo and Luke had in the Dukes of Hazzard, that plays Dixie. You know you want to. |

The five chime K-5L locomotive horn should do nicely (drag be damned): audio [edit]sorry - I seem to have linked the icon, not the sound file. Go to AC's link and follow to the locomotive page to listen. It's a lovely chord to my mind.[/edit] You might also browse the J. C. Whitney Catalog: horns menu As long as the replacement horn doesn't exceed the amperage of the horn circuit, you should be fine. The air horns probably require a separate circuit for the compressor.
