It's getting to the first "deep" part, which sounds bad ass!

I don't have much time to practice. :veryangry:

I'm sure that there are others who know more about the Raindrop Prelude than I do, but that middle section, according to legend, was inspired by the sound of chanting monks.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

:D George...

There is a story about this, which may or may not be accurate. But it's a nice story, anyway.

You know Chopin was dating this girl named George. Actually, her name was Aurore Dupin, but she liked the name George better (probably to help sell her poetry). She was quite masculine anyway, and often wore men's clothes and smoked cigars.

Frycek was pretty hung up over her, and they lived together for ten years (until he died in 1849). (According to biographer Tad Szulc, they never had sex, because a few years before they met Frycek had received a thoughtful gift of syphilis from a Romanian prostitute named Theresa, and he swore after that that he would never have sex with another woman.)

One night, Chopin was sitting in their little cottage out on the island, writing a couple of preludes, and George went out sailing with some friends. It was lightly raining, and Chopin could hear the rain drops lightly pattering on the roof and windows.

Then the wind started to pick up a little, and the rain started to come down a little heavier. Frederic started to get a little worried, because George was out sailing on the lake.

The rain came down harder and harder and then it started to thunder. The rain splattered on the windows, and Chopin was getting very nervous, as he sat in his little cottage writing his prelude.

Suddenly, there was a break in the storm. The winds calmed down, and the rain continued to patter on the roof and windows. As the rain relaxed once again to a light patter, George walked in the front door, safe and sound and probably very wet.

So, some romantic poet probably made this story up as he was sitting around with nothing better to do than make up stories about Chopin, and now everybody calls this prelude the "Raindrop" Prelude (except for those who call No. 6 the Raindrop Prelude, or those who don't call either of them the Raindrop Prelude).

yes, and that island was Majorca. i thought they split up a few years before he died, mainly because of Chopin's dislike of her son, Maurice, and vice versa?
And how are you today?

I thought they split up mostly because George Sand wanted to continue going through men like most of us go through socks?

(I have nothing positive to add to this discussion, but I like gossip, even when it's a hundred and odd years out of date)
