I'm just going to talk about things that Larry has already spoken about...Larry played as a youg'un with people who have bronze plaques in a nice little building in Nashville....if you could hang with those guys in your formative years, you can play...

Heck, I've known Larry for years, and I'm still not sure about the details of his musical past. I've always been curious, but he's always kept pretty mum about the details.

But this reminds me, I have to get something in the mail soon.

I'll answer your other comments later, but my primary priority for the rest of the evening is to get drunk." - Klaus, 12/31/14

Larry - That was fantastic, like GeorgeK said I only wish I had the creative piece that inspires that type of playing. If I stop back in to Tennessee I'd love to hear you play in person :)

Couldn’t wait here either, or they’d get buried. I’m going to have to wait to get home to blast all these through my system there too. That was some fantastic playing and singing Larry. BTW, I know what a little firewater does to you when you sit down and get at the blues, and I’m not even going to suggest I could play this stuff any better than Larry did. I certainly can’t sing that way either, unfortunately. I’d love to sit back and hear you play in person. Maybe someday.

Interesting comment you made about intimidating people who might come in to buy a piano by playing too much for them. Funny thing is, Darrell Fandrich plays those really suave subtle Dave Brubeck things and everything sounds perfect on his pianos and you just want to die to take one home. And his son Stephen absolutely knocked me out playing Scriabin, Rachmaninoff and the opening of Ravel’s left hand concerto. By that point I about burst into tears – this piece was written for a pianist who lost the use of his right arm during World War I. Of course I did help sell a piano for him once when I was there. This lady pianist, really she was, had all this music on the desk, it was Mozart. She’d been playing all afternoon it seemed like when we arrived. We sat quietly waiting for Darrell to finish with this lady when she turned to us and asked in a little desperation, “Do any of you know how to play the piano?” Darrell looked my direction and smiled and well I walked over to the nice 7’ he had there, saw the music on the desk and said, “Do you like Mozart?” Yes, she did, so I played a Mozart sonata and afterward she signed the deal. So maybe sometimes playing for a customer works, depending on the customer.
