anon moderator - why?

HOLY CARP!!!
There's no reason why we need an anonymous moderator. While I don't mind having a group of moderators and not necessarily knowing who did what at first glance, I at least would like to know that if asked they'd admit to who did it and why they did it, as happens at WTF. It's important to have accountability in moderators and since we have 2 anyway I see no reason to keep the third if they only want to do it on condition of anonymity. My vote is to remove the anonymous moderator. I don't want to be subject to the whims of someone who only deigns to exercise those whims on the condition of anonymity. Pardon me your highness but you can keep your whims to yourself if you're going to be uptight about your identity.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

I disagree. We have the other two moderators, who we all know, to keep the third in check, and to say "we've all talked it over, all three of us, and this is what we decide." Or, if the anon. moderator goes rogue, we ask to have 'em replaced. If all three go nuts, we get rid of them all. No problem.

When a moderator actually has to do their job, it ALWAYS means trouble for them. How dare you censor me, you ****!! I can see the rationale for this just fine, so I say we see how it goes. If they do a fine job, I day let 'em keep from being badmouthed and smeared.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

Same here. Maybe you an' I should volunteer to be vigilantes for the anonymous moderator.

one of the angels
actually it was moi who volunteered to moderate anonymously. The only reason i suggested it is because when i moderated the coffee room, a multitude of people instantly changed their attitude toward me from friend to antagonist. Granted, there was alot of stuff going on back then. People publicly remarked that i shouldn't comment on a topic because i was a moderator. it was just weird.

i don't really care whether or not i am anonymous. This is actually such a well behaved group of people for the most part i do not imagine we will ever need much moderation. just seemed a good idea at the time.

that carpy guy at night is about the only thing i would anticipate ever moderating. I just thought i could be helpful since i often pop in.

- apple, here to serve you if you want.

or not.. happy either way.
it behooves me to behold

I don't think you have anything to worry about. The anonymous moderator has been with us for years and is a well known and respected member of our online community and I trust that the anonymous moderator will do a good job.

actually john d'oh IS the anonymous moderater.

that's the beauty of it.

we all think john is the john moderater when in reality he is the anonymous moderater. this way, when we fire john for his lousy judgement calls, he will still be in place by virtue of his anonymous position.

brilliant ploy john.

but u didnt fool old bachophile.

so, john d'oh and apple are the same people.

i knew it.

from the very first day i knew it.

just as klotz and mirabilis are one and the same, so are apple and john.

Rly? That's kinda carpy on their part, then. Makes things rather unfun. I hope (and don't think) that would happen with us. Hard to imagine.

Oh geez, if apple's gong to be a moderator, I'm going to have to start hating her. Apple, I take back that "happy birthday."
