HOLY CARP!!!
|
Certified Lay Preacher Presbyterian Church (USA) At least according to an unofficial report coming out of the deliberating room. In any case, the evaluators that reviewed my sermon had told me it went very well right afterward. This is actually just step one in the process, which means now I'm deemed not to be a threat to unleash on poor, unsuspecting congregations whose pastor is out of town or otherwise unable to preach some given weekend. The next step, a little more than a year from now, is Certified Lay Pastor, which means they don't consider me too big a threat to actually pastor a congregation. The final version I preached to the Committee ended up significantly different, but still similar to, what I posted here. I enjoy putting together and delivering a good sermon, and having it really heard, in a way I can't describe (a rarity; I'm speechless). But I'm really relieved that this evaluation is done. |

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D | |

Congratulations Dwain. On a side note, even a faithless heathen atheist such as myself very much enjoys your occasional sermons over here. More than one has struck a chord with me. I particularly liked the most recent one covering doubt, and the humanity of Christ. |

Hi Deb!!! How are ya? I've been posting a lot this week because I've been sick... (physically, not the normal mental imbalances).

HOLY CARP!!!

I'm whooped. And making promises to myself about how "if I just make it one more week, I'll get to relax" for a bit. I think I'm still married, but the only proof of it in recent memory is some pretty cute text messages on my phone. We've both been running like nuts in opposite directions. One more week. Just gotta get through one more week. |
