HOLY CARP!!!

... to pick classes for next semester. The trouble is that there are so many classes that I want to take... but I don't think I could possibly survive a 40-credit semester. So I came up with a 19-credit plan which excludes any foreign language, religion, or philosophy ![]() Music History – Baroque – 2 credits Music History – Renaissance – 3 credits Written Theory I – 2 credits Piano Sight-Reading – 2 credits Piano Technology – 2 credits Piano Performance – 4 credits Argumentative Writing – 4 credits ........ But if I follow that plan, it's the perfect schedule: no classes after 11:30 every day (except Friday there is one afternoon class), and only one class on Tuesdays. .......... But could I tolerate a semester with only 1 non-music class?

I have nothing left to say to you  But seriously- if you enjoy music so much, I would think that would be a great schedule! Then again, I can definitely see how it might be overload. Are you a morning person? What exactly is the benefit of having all your classes done by 11:30? I definitely understand how it's nice to have a whole afternoon uninterupted to do other things. . . but if you're anything like me, having huge blocks of times can sometimes be a bad thing! I tend to abuse time when it's ample. Maybe having an afternoon class or two wouldn't be so bad? |

PJ, I can certainly say that my Freshman and Sophomore year schedules were the PITS. I took about 18 credits a semester, and it was pretty tough at times, but you get used to the workload after a month or so. I suppose I even got used to my bad schedule. Me being a science major, I took one or two semester of 1 or no science classes; it wasn't all that bad, since my classes weren't horrible. Sounds like yours will be interesing! |

This forum should give you an advantage. Remember in particular to study the Zimmerian Dialectic (tm).

Actually, it's not so much worse than now - in fact, this semester I'm doing 16 credits, but since I'm not technically a music student yet, piano is only 2 credits for me. So the schedule I'm thinking of is really just like mine now, except one more credit (4 credit piano is 1 hour lessons; 2 credit piano is 1/2 hour lessons). |

... and changed yet again. ![]() Renaissance/Baroque Music History - 2 credits Renaissance Music History - 3 credits Writing of History - 4 credits*** Written Music Theory I - 2 credits Piano Sight-Reading - 2 credits Piano lessons - 4 credits 17 credits (much better) *** The Writing of History --- Each section of "The Writing of History" will study a different era and topic in the past, for the common purpose of learning how history is written and how to write about it. Students will read the work of modern historians, documents and other source materials from the past. The goal will be to learn how to construct effective arguments, and how to write college-level papers. |
