Good luck! Not having a job sucks almost as much as having one. |
| As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good? | |

Two years ago The Housebound was unemployeeed for 5 months. My kids weren't in school yet so we went to the beach and slept in and traveled and did whatever we felt like. It was the best 5 months ever! Enjoy this time with your family LD and best of luck in all your new ventures. |

LD, best of luck. FWIW, when I got laid off, I went to the unemployment office to sign up. I was so demoralized by the process of that first visit that I swore I would do whatever it took to never, ever, walk into that door again for as long as I lived. I went home & told my wife that I was going into business for myself. There may have been months where the government's money would have been more than I earned myself, but I've never felt as dehumanized as I did while dealing with that bureaucracy made me feel. Now you get to reinvent yourself.

Arrrrrr.... there's a plan afoot me hearties... I can smell it from here, I can... Dwain, I had not the same experience with ODJFS, but similar.. they botched my claim so badly so many times that eventually, when the truth came out, they then said even thouogh it was their mistake it was too late to refile. I came to the same conclusion you did.. its just not worth the hassle. |

Good luck, L'sD. I've been unemployed or underemployed a few time. The longest was after graduating college during a recession. That was also the toughest because I had a wife and young child and few resources. Tell just about everyone you know that you're looking for a job. You never know where that next lead may come from. I found one job through my son's cub scout leader while I was helping her out with the pack. Make finding a job (or starting that business, if that's the way you're going) a regular job in itself. It's easy to fall into doing what's fun or takes your mind off job hunting, but you need to devote regular time to getting on with your future. Keep us posted on your progress. It's apparent that you have a wonderful home and family to support you. I'm confident that you'll do fine. Big Al |

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D | |
