When the Marines first introduce a young man to bootcamp, one of the top priorities is to rearrange the recruit's mentality.

(Something W never had to worry about.)

Life, business, leadership, etc. is more nuanced than simply instilling fear.

The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D

My point was that stating that removing Saddam is the primary goal of this conflict is to overly-simplify, and declaring the war over after a very short period of time was either naive or misleading. Clearly, Bush has achieved some of his objectives, however there's a long way to go before the operation can be considered a success.

What John said. For a lush, he makes an awful lot of sense.

Given the debacle in Iraq, our failure to achieve any of our goals, and the total incompetence in the way the mission has been handled, ....

Our chief goal was to remove Saddam from power. We did that.

You really need to reconsider this Zimmerian Dialectic (tm)-- it just doesn't seem to be working for you.

Then we can declare victory and leave.

Unlike the President. Oh, did I say that out loud? What I meant of course is that the President is no longer a lush. Whether he makes any more sense now he's riding the wagon of misery is open to debate.

It sometimes makes little difference whether you are on the wagon or under it.

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".
