My contribution to the music library

HOLY CARP!!!
[please ignore me while I vent my frustration]

So I've been reading this biography of Beethoven (Maynard Solomon). Evidently one of the professors here is using it for a class, so it's on so-called "course-reserve" at the library, which means it can only be checked out for four hours at a time. So almost every day I've been going to the library to check out this book for a couple hours.

This afternoon, it was a really nice day, so I took out the book and read outside by this gorgeous lake outside the music school. After 2 hours, I went to return the book to the library. I got there at 5:02. On FRIDAYS, the library closes at 5:00.

Nobody warned me that the library would close early today. The librarian told me that I had the book for four hours, so I went back to return it after two hours.

But anyway, here's the catch: there's a $1 fine for every hour after the 4 that I have the book. EVEN WHEN THE LIBRARY IS CLOSED. So, even though I went to return the book well before it was due, I will have to pay a $20 fine if I get there as soon as the library opens tomorrow at 1:00.

:mad2: :mad2: :mad2:

Oh well. Consider it my contribution to the library.

And anyway I went to the bookstore tonight and bought the book (and also Wolff's biography of Bach and Previn's recording of Gershwin Rhapsody in Blue / Piano Concerto / American in Paris). :)

$20 fine... :mad2: :mad2:

Dude, just keep it and claim you returned it.
