I wasn't going to post this, but someone insisted that I should so. . . here's a poem I wrote on a recent trip to Mexico City.

Sidewalks

Passerby
Out of your many faces
Memories flash
Now at days end
After many feet have passed
With worn shoe-soles
And raised voices mingled
Holding back and hindering
An old silence
Passerby
Those of you I remember
With thoughts
And long held dreams
Written on your foreheads
On your throats and
Rosy lips
Mouthing emptiness
The passerby
Has passed on by me

As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

Any references to bare breasts you can work in are always helpful to lengthening attention span but otherwise, absolutely brilliant.

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

It was a confusion of ideas between him and one of the lions he was hunting in Kenya that had caused A. B. Spottsworth to make the obituary column. He thought the lion was dead, and the lion thought it wasn't.
