A Suggestion for Cheney?

No media bias, nope, no way, no how. No suggestions, no photoshopping, no creative cropping.

And you think that is evidence of liberal bias?

Cheney retiring is the Dem's worst nightmare. It allows Bush to handpick the presumptive 2008 nominee; it removes a target who polls even worse than Bush does; it distracts from everything else going wrong.

Trust me, no true Democrat wants to see Cheney retire .... until 2008.

One does not cut out the bottom of a subject's neck and place the subject of the photo in the position placed, unless the subject of the photo was not the person, but the person framed by his surroundings, in which case you capture as fully as possible those surroundings -- something all the other photos displayed from the event do.

Photographers are not political strategists. I am sure they were well aware of and quite amused by what they were doing. Just like when many shots of Ed Meese in front of the Lady Justice statue would capture her bare breast floating over his right shoulder.

I don't care whether it's biased, it's still funny.

Cheney doesn't need liberal bias to look like a scary extra from a B-movie. It's FrankenSTEEN!

Spot on posts, Quirt & JB. I'm sure the photogs just had fun with it. When you slant your coverage, that's bias. This is just a wee little shot taken at fair game.

Speaking of having a shot, if Cheney retired, would Bush nominate Quayle?

Do you think he'd have a shot at it? :wink

Actually I think Hastert is automatically in line according to the Presidential Succession Act of 1947. Why would Bush be able to "hand pick", Quirt?

Ironically, I'd LOVE Cheney to retire.

Bring in some fresh blood, help Bush's poll numbers, and set up Hillary's opponent for 2008.

Perfect.

Ford was picked by Nixon to replace Agnew. The Succession Act applies to the President.

Ford was picked by Nixon to replace Agnew. The Succession Act applies to the President.

I assumed that was because the Speaker was a Democrat, and the President was entitled to have someone he could work with, so it defaulted to the President of the Senate who was a Republican.

But it makes sense that the Succession Act is not applicable to bind a sitting President.

BTW, Ford is going to be 93 years old this year! I wonder how his health is?

He was in the hospital not too long ago with a bout of pneumonia. I think he has gone home now.

Because the Succession Act has nothing to do with replacing the Veep. It only deals with what happens if the President can no longer serve and if there is no Veep to serve.

If the Veep leaves office, for whatever reason, the President nominates a successor. I don't remember exactly what happens next ... I think the nominated Veep has to be confirmed by a majority vote of the House, but I'm not sure, and I'm too lazy to look it up right now.
