HOLY CARP!!!

Anyone hear this quote? An incumbent mayor of a major city in the South supposedly was referring to other candidates running for mayor. He was talking to his supporters and made this comment, referring to the race of of the challengers. I only caught a snippet last night and I've been trying to find out more about it but can't find anything on the news. I can't believe they'd let the guy get away with this kind of comment! Anyone know more about it? |

I thought it was New Orleans, and he was referring to the rescue workers and volunteers in the city helping with the rebuilding. |

This is what I was able to find out. It was Mayor Ray Nagin from New Orleans, who has a track record for ill-advised comments. See here. I didn't have the quote exactly right. This was the first MSM outlet I could find referring to the quote. You'll have to page down quite far to find it. What I found surprising is that Nagin, apparently because he is black, is not taken to task for his racist remark. I think if this had been a white mayor saying this in front of his supporters he'd be called upon to resign. This kind of double standard leads to a credibility problem in the media and in the black community. |
